During this "month," we celebrate the great "Yacatecuhtli," the one who guides the way for the merchants but more so the Pochtecas

The Pochtecas were an elite group of merchants and were the ones that traveled great distances to share the goods of the pueblos. These were the ones that traveled through different "states," longer distances across states and countries, not local city to city.

This was the Veintena where Pochtecas would prepare to travel greater distances

During this Veintena, offerings were made to Yacatecuhtli to guide and protect the way during their travels across the Anahuac

We can thank the Pochtecas for bringing foreign medicine to our beautiful Mexico and vice versa

I am proud to be a descendant of great Pochtecas and to now be one as well.

My Tatas were Ocote and Maize Pochtecas, and I've heard beautiful and heartbreaking stories of my grandfather walking grand distances to share. I know he traveled through Teotihuacan many times from the valley we are from, and that always blows my mind.
Now, I travel very long distances all up along California and Mexico (with the commodities of transportation) to share my medicine and also bring back medicine from other places. I always thank my abuelos and Yacatecuhtli for guiding my way 🙏🏽
Today, I will make offerings to ensure a bountiful season of commerce.

Just wanted to share this little grain of knowledge that was passed on to me. May it sprout the seed of curiosity in you to learn more about yourself and where you come from, who we as people truly were and can be

"You are the medicine" is a series of workshops designed to reconnect you with traditional indigenous healing practices of Mexico.

We will begin with:

•Los Rumbos & Me : working with the elements in simple daily practices

During this workshop you will be introduced to some of the foundational concepts of creation for the people of traditional medicine, along with explanation of the concept of why they were called "gods"

Here you will learn why these concepts are important and how to connect with them in daily practices to live a more balanced and harmonious existence (just like our great ancestors once did)

You will walk away knowing:

• 7 Cosmic directions

• 4 Elements (Fire, Earth, Water & Wind

• The 4 Tezcatlipocas ( Xipe Totec, Quetzalcoatl, etc.)

• Concept of Ometeotl

• The sacred paths (red road, etc.)

• Easy daily practices to enhance your connection

• Altar setting using these energies

And more!

This workshop will be required before being able to access other workshops (limpias, sobadas, etc) to ensure ethical and safe practices

Each workshop will be different and build up gradually to ensure comprehension of the material being presented

Some workshops will be available online and some only in-person.

We will begin with 2 foundational workshops:

This will be required before being able to access other workshops (limpias, bodywork, etc) to ensure ethical and safe practices

🫀 Curandero/Curandera🫀

From the beginning of time, humans have reached to Mother Earth for their physical and spiritual well-being.

We spoke water, fire, earth, and wind. We had the ability to restore ourselves when we were low and depleted. We understood that our "internal language" was no different than the language of the elements and the world/sky around us

Somewhere along the way, these "languages" became foreign.

We walk among the collective low, depleted and far away from ourselves.

Curanderos are not "shamans" nor supernatural, mystical beings, simply those that continued to speak the language of earth and cosmos , its body and spirit. You are earth and the cosmos, in body and spirit

Curanderos aren't healers. We don't heal anyone. We do, however, speak the sometimes forgotten language of body and spirit, and can hold you while you find your way "home"

Everyone has the ability to understand their internal language, and sometimes we end up losing touch with ourselves but non the less we all speak these languages
