Today, may we remember not to take for granted the freedoms we do have — and may we find the courage to stand up for the ones we’re not willing to lose.

In the words of Nelson Mandela:
“For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.”

Our liberation is bound up in each other’s.
Let’s not forget that. 🙏🏼

If setting boundaries makes your stomach drop or your guilt spiral kick in, you’re not alone.

For those of us taught to keep the peace at all costs, boundaries can feel wrong—even when they’re healthy.

This piece is for you: the over-functioners, the people-pleasers, the tender-hearted ones who just want to feel safe and connected without abandoning yourselves in the process.

When everything else feels like too much, I go outside.
Nature gives me space.
To breathe. To clear my head.
To remember I’m more than my stress.

These photos are from a walk that helped me reset.

What’s your reset?
What brings you back to center?

Hi! I’m Kristina,

I’m a licensed therapist with over 10 years of experience helping women move from quiet self-doubt into clarity, confidence, and a deeper sense of self.

I know what it’s like to lose your voice—to feel the pressure to hold it all together, to keep the peace, to be the one everyone leans on.

I also know the freedom that comes with finally listening inward.

Therapy is a space to slow down, breathe, and come back to yourself.
To stop over-explaining.
To set boundaries without guilt.
To remember that your needs matter, too.

If you’re ready to stop shrinking and start becoming, I’d love to support you. I have an office in downtown Santa Barbara, as well as virtual via zoom and phone.

Reach out to schedule a free consultation. Let’s talk.

As helpers, givers, empaths, and compassionately-hearted ones, we don’t always give ourselves permission to take up space.

We’re too busy doing that for everyone else.

We can get so good at pushing down our own feelings that we even fool ourselves.

We silence our voice and stay small so that others don’t feel uncomfortable.

(When in doubt, defer to what the other person wants, right)?

So, when we start trying to have a voice again, we find that we’ve forgotten how to give ourselves permission to use it.

We want to begin learning how to listen to our feelings, but first we gotta remember where we shoved them…

Developing healthy boundaries within ourselves can feel awkward and strange after a long time of denying ourselves permission.

Here’s something that can help. 💛

Keep this Permission Slip close by as you navigate your boundaries journey.

Healthy inner boundaries can look like this.
