Blood flow restriction (BFR) is a relatively new training method in recent years that has shown to be an effective tool in rehabilitation and improving physical performance. This method utilizes cuffs that wrap around an outer limb such as a leg or arm, and constricts blood flow while performing an exercise. It creates similar levels of metabolic stress as if one was performing high intensity exercise with heavy load. BFR training can be performed with lighter loads of weight while still receiving great hypertrophy. This performance hack is perfect for physical rehabilitation by reducing load allowing less strain on an injured joint area while still stimulating muscle growth.
