Today I spoke to 47 individuals in the corporate world (in person and through zoom simultaneously), some of them were Christians and some of them were not. I shared with them my stories of trauma and abuse stemming from my childhood leading all the way into my young adulthood. I also had a chance to share about our current work, bridging the gap between Christian and Muslim kids at our Lighthouse School of Leadership in Mindanao, Philippines. I also shared about our future work of building a diving resort/safe house for abused/human-trafficked women and children. Lastly, I was able to plug my book: “Becoming a Four-Faced Christian: My Journey from Traumas to Triumphs." Though these were business people, engineers, doctors, scientists, etc. (thanks Boon Ng for inviting me to speak to your colleagues)-- not the usual types of people I normally meet at church--every single one attentively listened. Many came up afterwards asking how they can help and some offered to provide financial support.
Since retiring from teaching, raising awareness and gathering funds for our projects in Mindanao has become my full-time job. Not always easy. But today, the enthusiasm and the compassionate hearts of my audience made it so enjoyable! (I’ve already been invited back!) I thank God for giving me the words to say and for being there with me the whole time. It all started with Him…it continues to be about Him…and it will always be for Him!!! ❤️
