Hi! It’s me Liz 👋
I’ve been seeing some new faces here, so thought it’d be a good time to reintroduce myself. I grew up (mostly) in an off-grid cabin in the remote northeast corner of Washington state. A bit of a nomad after high school, I always had a deep yearning to see the world. I first moved to Santa Cruz in 2006 because my aunt lived here, and I fell in love with it. A winding road brought me to herbalism, from finishing my undergrad in my late twenties and studying abroad in Ghana to working seasonally on my aunt’s farm for about ten years, harvesting lavender and bottling olive oil, then getting into homesteading and horticulture myself. I came up with the idea for Verdant Wild during my first semester of grad school in an elective sustainable business class in Monterey. After that, I took a leave of absence, started a blog and the rest is pretty much history! I was self-taught in herbalism until my fifth year in business. Since then, I’ve completed the introductory and intermediate herbal programs and am currently working on their advanced herbal program. I still wear all the hats here at Verdant Wild and make everything by hand myself! Thank you for following along and supporting my small business ♥️
