Another one because we are blessed to be out in the community like this!! It’s a huge part of what this work is about for me — doing the actual work goes hand in hand with taking time out to talk to our community members & letting them know what opportunities are out there waiting for them. I wholeheartedly love educating families who don’t know what a doula is, spreading the word that doula services are fully covered by Medi-Cal and many insurance plans now (this is still not mainstream knowledge!), inspiring new thoughts around “it’s okay to need help” because I come from “I can do it all myself” and genuinely just connecting with people.
