šTRAVELING? STUCK WITH FAST FOOD? READ THIS š
One of my clients on our group call last week asked:
"Dave, what do I do when Iām traveling, and all I see are fast food joints?"
Now, you and I both know that the drive-thru life isnāt idealā¦
But sometimes, when you're staring down a glowing sign for McDonald's at 9pm in the middle of nowhere, youāve gotta play defense.
So, here's my motto for situations like this:
āMake the best out of a bad situation ā then move on.ā
That means sticking with REAL FOOD principles even when your options are limited.
š„ Bunless burgers (skip the sauces & cheese)
š„ Grilled chicken over lettuce (ditch the dressing)
š„ Double protein bowls (think Chipotle-style: greens, chicken, avocado)
š„ Apple slices, plain baked potatoes, side salads
š„ Grocery store hacks: cooked chicken, berries, olives, guac cups, carrots, clean deli meat
Weāre not chasing perfect. Weāre chasing non-inflammatory, ancestrally aligned, and less processed.
And when it comes to packing your own fuel, keep it simple:
š„ Avocados, olives, coconut butter
š Grilled chicken or turkey
š Wild salmon or mackerel
š° Nuts & seeds (macadamia, Brazil, pumpkin)
š„„ Coconut chips, tahini, guac packs
No need for a PhD in nutritionājust eat how humans ate before we invented drive-thrus, preservatives, and flavor dust.
š” Pro tip: Keep travel packs of olive oil, lemon wedges, and sea salt in your bag.
You'll be shocked how easy it is to upgrade a sad salad into a healing meal.
