Destination Speech

Melanie has 15 years of experience as a pediatric speech-language pathologist working one-on-one with children diagnosed with a wide variety of communication disorders. Her specialized interests include childhood apraxia of speech, articulation disorders, language disorders, central auditory processing disorders, and oral motor dysfunction which impacts intelligible communication and feeding skills. As a mindfulness meditation teacher, she loves incorporating playful mindfulness & meditation activities into each of her nature-based, individual, and group sessions.

Melanie enjoys helping children who benefit from neurologic re-education of the oral-facial muscles. She completed the Introduction to Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy training and assists clients by eliminating their oral habits, improving tongue position, improving lip seal, enhancing nasal breathing, repatterning muscle function, and promoting proper chewing and swallowing. Clients diagnosed with ankyloglossia (tongue-tie) or who need surgery to remove enlarged tonsils and/or adenoids benefit from orofacial myofunctional therapy.
