✨ Why do people sometimes cry during a sound bath? ✨
One of the most common things I see during sound baths is someone quietly wiping away tears. And many people ask afterward, “Why did that happen?”
Sound healing has a powerful way of helping the body shift out of fight-or-flight and into the parasympathetic nervous system — the state where the body finally feels safe enough to rest, process, & release.
For many of us, emotions get stored in the body when we don’t have the space or safety to fully feel them. The vibrations of the bowls, gongs, and chimes gently work with the nervous system, brainwaves, & even the water in our bodies to help things move again.
When the body relaxes deeply, sometimes the heart opens…
& what was held inside begins to release.
Tears during a sound bath aren’t something “wrong.”
They are often a nervous system reset, emotional release, or the body letting go of stored stress.
It’s one of the reasons I love this work so much.
Sound creates a space where people can soften, feel, & return to themselves. 🤍
If you’ve ever cried during a sound bath, know that your body was simply doing something very wise. (Artwork credit unknown)
