It’s always bigger than hoops. The highs are fun, but they never last. The lows sting and feel like they never end, but they always do. Keep your perspective focused on the calling God instilled in your heart. Love the people around you and see them in their true identity.

Gratitude. I need more of it.

Late nights. Tough losses. Long film study…sometimes the weight can become too much as a coach. Most of the time we put the pressure on ourselves, and it can alter our perspective.

But nights like these…folding laundry in the peace…I’m grateful. I get to coach basketball and be around amazing people every day.

Every jersey is more than a number. It’s a heart. It’s a person with fears, anxiety, and uncertainty. Someone with dreams and a desire to be significant. And I get to coach them. Lead them. Teach them. Admonish them. Love them.

And for that I’m grateful.

Gratitude. I need more of it.
