Our Story

After years of education and working one-on-one with the homeless community, Megan Howell opened up Second Heart Homes, Inc. Through this non-profit company, it’s programs help house some of the most chronically homeless and mentally ill individuals in Sarasota. The Second Heart Program identifies the specific needs of clients and helps them achieve their goals through housing, daily support, mentoring, workshops and, of course, love. Mental health comes first and a care plan is developed based upon the individualized needs of clients. The vision for Second Heart Homes is to meet people where they are at, love them for who they are, and find the best quality of life, given whatever circumstances are present.
