Use the FAST skill when you need to say no, stand your ground, or hold a boundary without guilt.

✨ Here’s how FAST works:
🔹 Fair: Be fair to yourself and the other person
🔹 Apologies (few): Don’t over-apologize for your needs
🔹 Stick to your values: Don’t compromise what matters to you
🔹 Truthful: Don’t exaggerate, minimize, or lie—be real

💬 Example:
“I can’t work late tonight. I understand it’s frustrating, but I need to honor my time with family.”

Use it when you need to assert yourself effectively without damaging the relationship.

🔹 Describe: State the facts (“When you cancel last-minute…”)
🔹 Express: Share your feelings (“…I feel frustrated and unimportant.”)
🔹 Assert: Ask clearly for what you want (“I need more notice next time.”)
🔹 Reinforce: Show the benefits (“It helps me plan better and feel respected.”)

Your thoughts shape your reality—but are they always telling the truth?

Cognitive distortions are automatic, often negative thought patterns that can impact how we feel and act. Becoming aware of them is the first step toward healthier thinking.

✨ Try this simple awareness exercise:

Notice a strong emotion—like anxiety, guilt, or frustration.
Write down the thought that triggered it.
Ask yourself:
Is this thought 100% true?
Am I using all-or-nothing thinking? (e.g., "I always fail")
Am I mind-reading or catastrophizing?
Challenge the distortion by replacing it with a more balanced statement.
Example: “I made a mistake” instead of “I’m a total failure.”
💬 Common distortions include:
– Black-and-white thinking
– Overgeneralizing
– Personalizing
– Fortune-telling
– Emotional reasoning
