Hazards on, double the speed limit, (safely) running red lights…that was me racing my dad to the ER last Saturday. Moments before, we were playing cards. I was soooo happy. I found out the Father’s Day Gift Guide (my skincare was chosen for) was live.

A couple weeks prior, Trae emailed me saying she wanted to include me. I told her how special it was to me because I’ve always been a daddy’s girl. Good news- he got out of the hospital yesterday, and we got to finish that card game. …my daughter and I also secretly snuck his dogs into the hospital, but that’s a different story.

Now for the fun stuff- I’m so grateful when my products get picked. I remember when my skincare line was just a pipe dream. I remember the failures, the many times I quit and gave up. I also remember the times I stood back up, figured it out and kept trying.

I love . I can see why millions trust her. She shines on tv and all her many publications. She cares. …and she’s taught me so much. Thank you, Trae!

💖It’s hard to describe the feeling of seeing your products being featured in the media/press…first, it’s this ginormous feeling of gratitude for the person that “picked me, chose my products”. Then, this feeling I can’t describe. It’s almost like a reward for all the hard work. All the times I wanted to give up, but didn’t.

I was with my parents and daughter when I found out it was a “Yes!” from the producers of “Good Day LA”…I started crying.

Last year, before our summer vaca, I gave up on my skincare. My aloe suppliers changed, and the formula kept separating. I told my husband (after a year of failed attempts), “I quit. It’s less than 20% of my sales, and 80% of my stress.”

Months later, I ran out. Even my failed attempts were better than anything on the market. During my quitting time, I talked to my Pure Barre instructor is this gifted, super intelligent chemist. So, already having the ingredients on hand, I tried again.

When I was immersed in learning Chinese medicine at my teacher’s clinic (in my 20’s), I noticed something…the herbs and the chi gong were like secret tools for people gaining control of their wellness. The people who did both, well, it was like super speed to feeling self empowered.

Chi Gong is a traditional Chinese practice that combines controlled breathing, gentle movement, and meditation to cultivate and balance the body's vital energy, known as "qi" or "chi." It is believed to promote physical health and mental well-being.

This Saturday, 11am at the 30a (Watercolor) Pure Barre studio, I will be teaching a chi gong that originated at the Shaolin Temple 1,500 years ago. You will learn an entire system that takes you less than 7 minutes to do at home 🥰

The Story Behind Chi Works

Since 2001, Dr. Summer Honaker has been an integral part of Precious Wood Farm (www.preciouswoodfarm.com), a 216 acre healing and educational retreat center, high in the mountains of North Carolina. As a Director and instructor, she has presented over 85 seminars and retreats. Dr. Summer has also assisted in the development and presentation of 131 seminars and retreats with her teacher, Master Frank Gibson.

Ms. Summer was one of the first practitioners in the Last Call Program (www.thelastcallprogram.com), the most tested and successful alcohol program in the country. Since 2001, she has worked closely with the founder as the program eventually became available on a large scale throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Her training in classical, Chinese physical arts is unique in its pure, traditional nature, and represents a 1,100 year, unbroken succession of Masters. As one of only four inside students, Dr. Summer is one of only a few Americans to be taught in this manner. Her training includes Shaolin Kung Fu, Yi Jin Jing qi gong, Tang Long, Chinese Dao Yin yoga, T'ai Chi, Tam Toi, and the highly secretive Hua Shan Pai and Shaolin internal qi gong.

Dr. Summer is certified in qi gong under the Taoist Qi Gong Federation, which is the only traditional Master level authority in the United States. She began competing in Shaolin Kung Fu in 2004 winning every competition. Although Dr. Summer’s primary focus in now on the internal arts of T’ai Chi Ch’uan, qi gong, and Dao Yin, her martial arts training and highly developed discipline created a foundation for the healing, internal forms of exercise and development experienced by only a few teachers and practitioners.
