Keeping your child updated on immunizations is one of the best ways to protect their health. Vaccines help prevent serious illnesses that can lead to serious complications or hospitalizations.

Talk with your child’s provider about recommended immunizations and make an appointment to catch up on any that may have been missed.

Our department holds multiple immunization clinics each month for those unable to obtain a vaccine through a provider. Call 518-584-7460 to schedule an appointment. ☎️

With warm weather on its way, it’s time to think about tick bite prevention. Ticks can spread diseases such as Lyme disease, but a few simple steps can help protect you and your family when spending time outdoors.

When outside:
▪️Treat clothing and gear with products containing permethrin.
▪️Use EPA-approved insect repellents as directed.
▪️Avoid areas where ticks are commonly found, such as tall grass, brush, and leaf litter.

When back indoors:
▪️Change your clothes and wash them in hot water after being outdoors.
▪️Check your whole body for ticks. They can be as small as a poppy seed. If you find one, remove it with tweezers, pulling upward with steady, even pressure.
▪️Shower within two hours of coming inside to help wash away ticks before they latch on.

Taking these steps can help reduce your risk of tick bites and tick-borne diseases. ⚠️
