Knittedbyolivia When that nurse handed me my newborn daughter, I saw a handmade knitted beanie on her perfect tiny head. I felt so much love from that tiny handmade beanie.

I learned from that nurse that local elderly women regularly donated handmade knitted beanies to that hospital. Love inspired me. I want to share this love. First I had learn how to crochet. My friend told me she would ask her grandma to teach me. Sweet Grandma Ross took twenty minutes out of her day to teach me how to make a double crochet. I’ve been crocheting ever since that Spring day in 2008. My talent had evolved to knitting. I now teach a free knitting and crochet class each week in my home. My students continue to knit and crochet items for their loved ones. The love keeps on spreading. Each handmade item in my shop has a tiny crocheted heart tagged or sewn into it. May this tiny heart remind you to spread the love with whatever gifts you’ve been blessed with even if it's just your smile.

I’m not an outwardly festive person. However, I’m always celebrating on the inside. This 4th of July, I’m a little festive. I crocheted a couple of these garlands for my girls and a tiny one for their dollhouse. On July 4, 1776 the United States declared independence from England. They declared for their freedom, they didn’t ask. Bold. And then they fought. I feel like our Heavenly Father truly intended for us to be free. He wants us to have the freedom to worship, to have children, to invent, to create... gosh, there’s no limit. Happy Independence Day my people! @ Saratoga Springs, Utah
