Hi friends…
Have you ever said something to someone and walked away thinking… WHY DID I SAY THAT?!?! 😳🫠🫤😩

I’m pretty sure, if it’s happened to you once… It’s happened a dozen times.

If it makes you feel any better.. rest assured, we’ve ALL thought that at one point in time or another! 😢

Unfortunately, things like this aren’t just a one off… they are most likely a pattern. It’s a pattern you learned to help you navigate tricky situations and come out alive! 🤪

We learn these patterns or mechanisms to keep us safe… but ultimately, as time passes, they only serve to hinder us in our relationships with ourselves and with others.

(Ourselves= limited beliefs, negative self talk, driving ourselves into the pavement, etc…
Others = enabling, info dumping, manipulating, gaslighting, belittling, etc…
You get the point!)

If you want to get to the root of some of these mechanisms and walk away from conversations feeling fulfilled… let’s chat.

I think the Enneagram can help!

It costs nothing to inquire.
Click the link and it will get you in touch with me and we can set up a free consultation.

I’d love to hear from you!

On todays episode of ‘What does it look like to be healthy and/or unhealthy in each Enneagram type?’, let’s look at our laid back type 9’s!

This is the Peaceful Person or Peacemaker.

Type 9’s show us how to move through the world with grace and understanding. Type 9’s are not quick to act but to sit back and assess what really needs to be done. They help us to slow down and focus on the deeper issues at play. They can handle conflict in a very diplomatic way that satisfies everyone. Sometimes just their presence can de-escalate a stressful situation. 9’s in health have a natural energy that comes from within and takes action to course correct.

However, when a 9 is unhealthy, they will avoid conflict at all costs. They will feel sluggish, as if their opinions do not matter and avoid bringing energy into a situation. They will numb out in stress and in order to not make waves, they become chameleons and merge with the person they are with. 9’s in unhealth will hide and avoid and continue believing that their presence doesn’t matter.

On todays episode of ‘What does it look like to be healthy and/or unhealthy in each Enneagram type?’, let’s look at our intense type 8’s!

This is the Powerful Person or Challenger.

Type 8’s show us how to advocate for those who cannot advocate for themselves. They help us to recognize where injustice is happening and how to course correct to bring about mercy in the world. These guys are action oriented and are the Justice League, they fight for the underdog while maintaining innocence and compassion. In health, as they embrace vulnerability and mercy, they are the heroes we all need.

However, when an 8 is unhealthy, their fight becomes a fight for themselves and those in their inner circle. Unhealthy 8’s may be aggressive and cutthroat… whatever it takes to get the job done. Weakness is avoided at all costs and the moment they feel vulnerable it becomes necessary to post up and assert their dominance. The snow plow that paved the way for others, now becomes the snow plow that runs over others that get in the way.

On todays episode of ‘What does it look like to be healthy and/or unhealthy in each Enneagram type?’, let’s look at our adventurous 7’s!

This is the Joyful Person or Entertaining Optimist.

Type 7’s show us what adventures are possible in life. Their gift is the ability to see the hope in any situation life throws their way and being fully present to the joy and grief. 7’s see the world as endless possibilities and options. Whatever it is… it can be done, with wisdom and discernment there is always a way or a perspective that will bring about flourishing.

However, when a 7 is unhealthy, they will avoid grief or pain at all cost. A 7 with few options or negative voices coming in will feel stuck or trapped and look for ways to avoid. They may become highly rigid and critical of the world around them where once they saw nothing but potential.

On todays episode of ‘What does it look like to be healthy and/or unhealthy in each Enneagram type?’, let’s look at our loyal like no other 6’s!

This is the Loyal Person or Loyal Guardian.

Type 6’s show us what loyalty to themselves and others looks like. Their ability to take in information and assess needs and safety is like no other. They show us how to think critically and take in different perspectives and make good judgement calls. They have an inner radar that helps them know when something or someone can be trusted but mainly the courageous 6 trusts themselves to know what they need.

However, when a 6 is unhealthy their minds take in information as warning signs and everything is filtered through an “inner committee” That causes confusion and eventually inaction. They learn they can’t trust themselves and rely on authority figures instead of themselves and ultimately live in fear. 6’s can suffer from extreme amounts of anxiety, and loyalty becomes toxic rather than life giving.

On todays episode of ‘What does it look like to be healthy and/or unhealthy in each Enneagram type?’, let’s look at our knowledgeable type 5’s!

This is the Wise Person or Investigative Thinker.

Type 5’s show us what true wisdom looks like. Their ability to separate feelings from facts and finding truth between those balances is what helps them to teach us all how to make wise decisions. 5’s are really good at getting to the “Heart of the matter” rather than only standing on facts or feelings. They are able to sit in the yuck of life but have the knowledge to not allow the yuck to weigh them down. They can handle whatever comes their way because of their wise discernment.

However, when a 5 is unhealthy they may become greedy for more knowledge so that they are never blindsided. They may become distant and even might dissociate from their feelings convinced that feelings only stand to get in the way of their safety and security. 5’s may detach emotionally from those around them and may avoid intimacy or relational obligations as they feel it may be too much and deplete them of their energy.

On todays episode of ‘What does it look like to be healthy and/or unhealthy in each Enneagram type?’, let’s look at our unique type 4’s!

This is the Unique Person or Romantic Individualist .

Type 4’s show us the beauty of life. Their ability to see the unique qualities of a sunset keeps them in touch with their emotions and helps them to navigate the ebbs and flows of living in a fallen world. Even within the fallenness, they are able to see what most of us overlook… The stunning creativity all around them. They are able to sit with the low and feel great empathy. They are able to rejoice with those around them and feel every scenario in the in between. 4’s stand out as they are not like anyone else just as no snowflake is like another. Healthy 4’s keep us grounded in the beauty that surrounds us… in joy and in pain.

However, when a 4 is unhealthy, they can be hard to reach because they believe their sorrows are greater than anyone else’s. They fall into the trap of believing no one’s plight has been greater, therefore no one could possibly understand their suffering. This leads to dramatic mood changes… the highest of the high to the lowest of the low in ten seconds flat. They become moody and aloof and see everything through a fatalistic lens rather than beautiful complexity.

On todays episode of ‘What does it look like to be healthy and/or unhealthy in each Enneagram type?’, let’s look at our efficient type 3’s!

This is the Effective Person or Successful Achiever.

Type 3’s show us what it looks like to work smoothly and efficiently in the world. Things in their care will be handled appropriately and in the most timeliest of manners… these guys know how to do it right and make it look good at the same time! Failure is not a word in their vocabulary 😎

However, when a 3 is unhealthy, they can become image driven and their inner world becomes distorted. What they show on the outside does not match their internal dialogue. Type 3’s in unhealth are good at projecting an image in spite of the insecurity that overwhelms their psyche.

On todays episode of ‘What does it look like to be healthy and/or unhealthy in each Enneagram type?’, let’s look at our beloved type 2’s!

This is the Loving Person or the Helper.

Type 2’s show us what true unconditional love looks like in the world. They are givers and take on the mantle for those that need care.

However, type 2’s can mistakenly find their value in the love they give and therefore become resentful when the love is not reciprocated. They can become prideful because a 2 might see themselves as knowing what everyone needs… to be clear… everyone but themselves.

The Enneagram is an amazing tool to help us navigate ways we sabotage relationships… So let’s talk about what that looks like for a TYPE 1!
The Perfectionist or The Good Person. Everything for a 1 is seen through the lens of good/bad. Everything is black and white and there is no gray.
When a 1 is healthy they see things through a lens of good and how it can be even better!!! But when a 1 is unhealthy they see all the wrong in the world and in others… It colors their perceptions and leads them to trusting their “inner critic” that shows them all the ways the world is lacking.

Hi friends!
Your friendly neighborhood Enneagram Coach, here!

I want to introduce myself but first, can I just say...
WELCOME!
I'm so glad you popped by!

Anyways... back to the introduction!

As you can see, I'm Shannon Lynch, a Certified Enneagram Coach. I love the Enneagram because it helps us to understand ourselves and how we function within relationships... whether with ourselves or others.

I am a wife and mother and I am currently in graduate school to become a Licensed Professional Counselor. My work with the Enneagram has helped more than I can express as I've learned concepts in the graduate program.

My first experience with the Enneagram was in 2008 at a time in my life when I desperately needed healing within myself and in my most pivotal relationships. My life was changed after experiencing the power of the Enneagram as I learned what my core motivations were and how to take those natural inclinations and use them in a way that promoted relational flourishing.

Isn't that what we all want? Our relationships to thrive and feel life-giving?

It's possible.
I'd love to share this gift of knowledge with you.

If you are struggling with personality issues or relational strains, let's chat... all consultations are FREE.
