You want to start tackling your fitness goals, but you’re having difficulty getting started. You’re too tired or too stressed and your bed is just that comfortable right? Many people find it hard to find motivation to workout and to continue to do so consistently. If that’s the case for you, here are some tips to help motivate you to get started or to help you stay motivated, so that you can reach your fitness goals!
- Define your ‘why’
- Stop making excuses
- Set reachable goals- write them down and review them often
- Variety: training your body in different ways with different types of workouts not only helps to strengthen different parts of your body, but also helps to keep you from getting bored
- Find a workout partner: this can help to keep each person accountable
- Listen to music- create a killer playlist that really pumps you up
- Plan your workout schedule in advance: be specific by choosing the type of workout, for how long, and where you will do it
- Remind yourself of the benefits that exercise has to offer
- Reward yourself
- Don’t think about it: get dressed and start!
Every day is going to be different and what motivates you may change daily. Some days you may be motivated to run a marathon, while on other days you may only have enough energy for a short walk. For those days when the couch is calling your name, be sure to choose an activity that is easier and takes less time, this way you minimize your chances of making an excuse and then skipping the workout completely. Find balance with your fitness schedule and always allow time during the week for recovery. Keep your fitness goals in mind and don’t be too hard on yourself!
