Three Simple Steps I took to reduce Bloating and Inflammation in my Body.

Reducing inflammation can transform your energy, mood, and even your skin. I often notice inflammation showing up as puffiness in my face..

I started by cutting back on these big triggers:

🚫 Gums & fillers like guar gum and xanthum gum (often hiding in ā€œhealthyā€ foods & snacks). I switched from the vegan protein that I had used for years to a grass fed beef protein.

🚫 Refined sugar- I look at sugar content for EVERYTHING and aim for less than the 25g per day recommended by the American Heart Association for women.

🚫 Gluten & dairy (common culprits for bloating and joint pain) . I learned I was gluten and lactose intolerant through DNA testing.

Bonus:

āœ… I Add in Omega 3 Fatty Acids through supplementation and food and also use Quercetin a supplement that is often thought of as a natural antihistamine both can be helpful for inflammation.

Honestly, I started to see puffiness and inflammation disappear within a month and continue to reduce while following this plan.

See below for my favorite supplements that I use in my inflammation reduction journey!

Three healthy habits that might be raising your cortisol!

When cortisol stays elevated it can show up as:

• Poor sleep

• Midsection weight gain

• Brain fog

• Mood swings

Here’s what actually helps:

✨ Waking up too early for your morning routine.

It’s time to prioritize sleep especially if your body needs it.

Sleep is when your body repairs, resets hormones, and supports metabolism. If sleep is difficult in menopause, magnesium, lavender, melatonin, or tart cherry may help.

✨ Exercising hard EVERY SINGLE DAY- Stop pushing through exhaustion.

Undereating, over-exercising, and prolonged fasting can actually raise cortisol. Your body needs nourishment and recovery.

✨ Trying all the latest protein bars and healthy snacks.

Too much sugar, caffeine, and highly processed foods with additives can contribute to cortisol imbalance. A Mediterranean-style diet supports balanced blood sugar and lower inflammation.

Midlife isn’t the time to fight your body… it’s the time to support it.

As a pharmacist, I am not against GLP-1’s. Would just do this first instead.

I get the frustration of midlife weight gain. I thought I was doing everything right in midlife…

and it was actually keeping me inflamed.

If you’re eating the protein, moving your body, resting —

and the weight STILL won’t budge… read this.

Here’s what I learned the hard way šŸ‘‡

✨ In my effort to ā€œdo protein right,ā€ I was eating Greek yogurt daily and switched to a whey protein.

DNA testing revealed I’m lactose + gluten intolerant — and foods I thought were healthy were quietly driving inflammation and weight gain.

✨ I also learned my genetics matter.

I’m naturally slow to lose weight and slow to build muscle.

The breakthrough? I stopped program-hopping and focused on consistency instead of chasing quick results.

✨ And this surprised me most…

When I was tracking macros, I was actually overeating for my body.

My DNA shows I’m sensitive to carbohydrates, so lowering carbs helped reduce inflammation and support weight release.

Even if taking a GLP-1, I would have never known about these food sensitivities that were causing inflammation without DNA testing.

Midlife isn’t one-size-fits-all.

What works for your friend, influencer, or podcast expert may not work for YOU and that includes different weight release methods.

I didn’t have coffee with my younger self.

Because honestly, she wouldn’t have believe what I had to say.

✨She thought being worn out was normal ( working 12 hour days at the pharmacy).

✨She thought pushing herself in the pursuit of ā€˜perfection’ was the only way.

✨She thought entering into midlife would mean feeling even more tired, gaining weight and being unfulfilled.

If we sat across from each other today, she might be slightly shocked that:

✨I’m finally using my voice and using it to support other women and have found a new version of my career.

✨ I’ve let go of the idea of perfection ( it doesn’t exist) and giving myself grace, allowing myself to rest and allowing JOY into my life.

✨ I’m focusing on an overall healthy lifestyle and not just a number on the scale.

She would also be shocked that she’s finally choosing herself and midlife is actually one of the best chapters of her life !

Let’s keep this trend going! Why would you not have coffee with your younger self? Tag me if you do so I can support what you share!
