Myth: Asking for help is a sign of weakness.
Truth: Asking for help is one of the bravest things you can do.

Your mental health matters just as much as your physical health.

Have you ever been surprised by a mental health truth that challenged what you were taught growing up?

Feeling overwhelmed? Here are 3 things you can do in just 5 minutes to calm your mind:

1. Step outside and notice 3 things you see, 2 things you hear, 1 thing you feel.
2. Try “box breathing” – inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4, hold for 4.
3. Write down one thing you’re grateful for today.

These small resets can help you feel grounded, even in the busiest moments.

Addiction isn’t only about substances—it often starts much earlier.

In Part 2 of “We’re All Addicted to Something,” Dr. Goble explores how childhood experiences, unmet emotional needs, and even spiritual wounds shape our patterns of coping.

• Many of us learn to please, perform, or hide pain just to feel safe.
• Over time, these patterns can turn into addictions—whether to people, perfection, substances, or screens.
• Healing begins with honest connection—with ourselves, others, and God.

Addiction is not your identity. It’s a signal pointing to deeper pain, and healing is always possible. 💙

Addiction isn’t just about drugs or alcohol.

It can look like overworking, perfectionism, social media, chronic people-pleasing, even codependency.

As Dr. Goble shares in her latest blog post, addiction is not about being broken, it’s about survival. Behind every addiction is a human story: unmet needs, emotional pain, and a longing for connection.

Healing doesn’t happen overnight, but it is possible. If you or someone you love is struggling, this message is for you: You are not broken. You are human. And you are not alone.

We all want to matter, and the truth is, we do. No one is more or less important than another.

In a world full of disagreement and division, it can be hard to stay grounded in compassion, especially when emotions run high.

But lasting healing, understanding, and connection don’t come from intensity — they come from presence, patience, and perspective.

At Psychiatry of Scottsdale, we help people navigate emotional overwhelm and respond to conflict with clarity and calm.

You can be true to your convictions without losing your peace. Call Dr. Goble at 480.661.3877 to start counseling or read more on our blog. https://psychiatryofscottsdale.com/managing-strong-emotions/
