I’ll definitely expand on this some time, but one thing I’ve always found fascinating is just how impeccable and specified human milk nutrition is. And why does it vary from species to species? Duration of feeds, space between feeds, growth patterns and weaning age are all part of it!

I know, I know, that's not what "they" say, and new parents are desperate for sleep (I don't miss those days)! However, here are a few examples where NOT waking a sleeping baby may not be the best advice:
Baby isn't getting enough calories to rouse themselves to feed
Baby is underweight/not gaining as expected for their age
Baby is under two weeks old
Baby isn't getting enough feeds during waking hours (example: 10-12 for newborns)
Milk supply is low or isn't established (and you don't want to pump)
