Our SPL’s had a great time at the Doctor For A Day (DFAD) outreach event last week! 🩺

DFAD is a program ran through Center for Workforce Inclusion and Healthcare System Equity (WIHSE) to engage youth in pursuing health careers and careers in STEM.

This year’s event took place on March 10, 2026 at the University of Washington campus in Alaska Airlines Arena and brought high school students together to explore different healthcare professions.

At the UW SLP table, students learned more about what medical Speech-Language Pathologists do in the healthcare settings. They asked great questions and even got to try thickened liquids to better understand dysphagia management, definitely a memorable hands-on experience!

Thank you to the SLPs who helped make it happen, Lisa Zughni, Emily Wilson, Brandon Jagdhar (current SLP fellow), and Jess MacKimm (not pictured).

It’s always inspiring to share our field and help introduce the next generation to careers in healthcare! 👏
