📢 New Publication: Dynamic Airway CT for Morphometric Analysis of Pediatric Tracheomalacia Throughout Respiration.

A recent study led by Resident Hannah F. Case (R3-Research) presents a novel, semi-automatic workflow developed in 3D Slicer to enhance the evaluation of tracheomalacia in pediatric patients using 4D-CT.

While 4D-CT enables full respiratory-phase imaging of the trachea, most clinical workflows rely on qualitative review. This new approach introduces quantitative metrics to support objective assessment:

🔹 Cross-sectional area
🔹 Aspect ratio (minor-to-major axis)
🔹 Tracheal volume (subglottis to carina)

Demonstrated across four cases with varying degrees of airway collapse, this method bridges the gap between advanced imaging and measurable clinical insight.
