Sarah Hyde Wellness

Sarah Hyde Wellness E-RYT®️200 teacher/trainer. Inclusive hatha, vinyasa, yin, restorative, meditation and sound baths. Hi, I’m Sarah (she/her). I’m so glad you’re here!

I’m a student and teacher of yoga and meditation, a writer, and sound practitioner. I’m a Seattle-based yoga and meditation teacher offering a wide array of practices including hatha, vinyasa, yin and restorative yoga, meditation and sound baths. My goal is to provide a modern class experience that’s steeped in the history and philosophy of all eight limbs of yoga, helping students transcend the boundaries of an exercise class and step into something deeper and more profound. My classes focus on breath and body connection, and listening to and honoring your own body and what it needs. My classes are always all-levels. I incorporate music into my classes, and I love to spend a lot of time creating my playlists so they’re a mix of genres and eras. Also, I always laugh in my classes, and I hope you laugh with me! I became a yoga student in 2012, at a time when anxiety and depression were taking over my life. I’ve always enjoyed a good, sweaty workout, but I was looking for something more contemplative, something physically challenging that would also support me on my inward journey of healing and growth. This practice has made my life so much richer than I could have imagined. When nothing else can quiet the mind or still the body, coming to your mat can. All you have to do is show up. Everything we do in my class is an offering, and all levels are welcome. After growing up in the midwest and northeast, I moved to the left coast in 2010 and found my perfect home in Seattle, where I live with my partner and our very large son, a yellow lab named Baker. I spent the first 20 years of my professional life working in non-profit communications and marketing, primarily in higher education. In 2018, I left my full-time gig and signed up for a yoga teacher training program, unsure of what the future held for me. And now, I find myself building a new career as a yoga and meditation teacher. And I have never been happier! A nomad and travel junkie, I’ve visited almost all 50 states and many countries. I enjoy a hot cup of tea or a glass of wine, all things arts-related, knitting and the color gray. When I’m not teaching, writing or creating, you'll find me practicing yoga, taking a long walk, listening to podcasts or records, doing a puzzle or, at the end of the day, always reading a good book.

This weekend, I’m headed to Whidbey Island for my Spring Awakening retreat with . There’s nothing I love more than preparing for retreat - I get so excited imagining what the group is going to be, how we’ll come together, and what magic we’ll make together. It feels like such a privilege to get to hold spaces like this, and share community and learning with like-minded people. The more stressful our world feels, the more I treasure these weekends.
🌲
I’m thinking ahead to fall, when and I return to the Doe Bay Resort on Orcas Island to host our second annual Rest & Renew Retreat. It’s such a magical place - a little further away via ferry than Whidbey Island, but worth the journey for the quiet beauty of the San Juans. If you have been considering a retreat, please join us. Last year’s retreat was so wonderful, and I’m hoping this will be an annual destination.
🌲
I’ve extended the early bird pricing for Doe Bay through 7/1 - so make your deposit and reserve your spot soon to snag that discount. Payment plans are available - I’m dedicated to making retreating as accessible as possible. Register at sarahhyde.me - links in my bio.

On my 45th birthday (what?! how?!?!), I'm grateful to be at the tail end of a very long vacation with , doing what I like best - sitting on a beach. This time next week I'll be back to my full summer schedule. Thank you to all of my colleagues who are covering classes so I can take this break (, , , and more at , and .body.hum), and to all my wonderful students and friends for showing up for yourselves this last year, and for supplying my small business so I can spend the second half of life doing what I love most. See you all soon!

THREE SPOTS LEFT…🌷
Gathering for a weekend retreat feels like an extra decadent gift to give ourselves right now. And admittedly, with all the chaos and turmoil and turbulence we’ve experienced politically and globally this year (and we’re only 4 months in), I have noticed a decline in attendance for studio classes and event registrations. It’s a tough time to make plans. It’s hard to know how we’ll feel in a few days or a week or a few months, which makes it hard to commit to activities, or invest money in anything. For many of us, there’s no guarantee that the money will even be there in a few months.
🌷
But community is the antidote to so much of the suffering we’re experiencing right now. And despite the things happening around us that may feel out of our control, each of us still has dreams and wishes and needs and goals, and desires to activate those plans and dreams.
🌷
If you have yearned for a weekend of self care, a weekend of connection, a weekend of activation - please consider spending the weekend of June 6th with me at the Aldermarsh Retreat Center on Whidbey Island. We’ll gather with .speaks and to experience good food, beautiful nature, and practice yoga and meditation together, with a focus on spring and summer energy and the fire element. We’ll enjoy sauna sweats, hot tub soaks, and sound baths, as well as astrology, vision boarding, and breathwork. Payment installment plans are available.
🌷
If you’re a teacher - I’m offering 20% off for this retreat in an effort to help refill your cup and ease your financial strain.

Breathing seems like such a simple, even forgettable, act. The average human breathes 12-10 times per minute. That adds up to somewhere between 18-28 THOUSAND breaths each day. And many of those breaths happen while you’re sleeping. When you breathe, your diaphragm contracts, your chest expands, and the body is nourished with fresh oxygen and cleansed by the release of carbon dioxide. When we breathe with intention, with purpose, with focus, we can alter our nervous system and our mental state. We can lessen our anxiety and tension and invite relaxation and rest. When we journey with the breath, we experience a range of sensations, from felt physical sensations like tingling or buzzing, to metaphysical or psychedelic experiences. We get to know ourselves, and to excavate what lies deep beneath the surface, under the stress and trauma of our lived experiences. In a conscious connected breathwork session, all of this happens under the careful and loving watch of a facilitator who can hold your hand as you journey. If you’ve been feeling a lot, if you’re curious to know yourself better, breathe with me on the first Saturday night of each month at .body.hum. Spots are still available for this weekend’s journey. 💫

I taught my first yoga class on this day in 2019. It seems so hard to believe, for so many reasons - one of them being, I don’t think I have a photo of me teaching that class. I’ve never been particularly interested in getting photos of myself doing or teaching yoga, because I believe a yoga practice can’t really be captured in a photo. It also feels hard to believe because it was only six years ago, and yet I’ve taught thousands of classes now, and trainings, and retreats and workshops, so how can it only have been six years? All I know is, I’m grateful. I make less money than I did before making this my career, but I am so much richer in so many ways, thanks to the freedom of running my own business and the creativity and flexibility afforded me through this work. I’m grateful to my teachers - , , Jodi Boone and , Scott Francis, , .thehealer, and . I’m grateful to my family and friends for supporting me, to my clients for trusting and teaching me, and to my studios , .body.hum, and for giving me space and support. This photo was taken at the start of my teaching journey at the most precious Sangha Yoga, and that’s the beautiful and behind me. Always surrounded by beautiful humans in this work. 🧘🏻‍♀️✨🕉️

I’m absolutely over the moon to share with you that starting next week, on February 10th, you can gather with me at , new as of 2024 to the Ballard community.

I discovered Flood last fall, when a friend brought me to owner ’s slow flow class, and I was delighted to experience some of the deepest relaxation I have ever felt in a movement class. When Kate says slow, or gentle, she means it. This studio is a breath of fresh air for those of us who love the practice, and who prefer to take it just a little bit slower.

When Kate offered me the chance to create a signature class for her studio, I leaped! LEAPED at the chance! I have missed teaching in Ballard since the pandemic. What a gift to be able to bring to the community the precise practices that I am most passionate about sharing in this season of life!

And so, I present to you Candlelight Yoga Nidra & Reiki, offered every Monday night (except the first of each month). It is my hope that you can meet me in this cozy, intimate, non-heated space to rest and regulate your nervous system through the practice of yoga nidra (“yogic sleep”). With your consent, I’ll offer reiki - a Japanese healing art that uses gentle touch to balance energy and promote rest.

Please come and see me starting this Monday night!

I am so excited to announce my brand-new retreat, SPRING AWAKENING, taking place this June at Aldermarsh Retreat Center on Whidbey Island! This will be my third time hosting a retreat on this gorgeous piece of land, but it’s my first time experiencing Aldermarsh in the spring, and I’m so excited to see it in full bloom! On the first Thursday of each month, you can join me at for a special Yoga & Sound class. This week, we will explore yin postures and the concept of “beginner’s mind” - an essential piece of yogic philosophy that helps us to release attachment to fixed outcomes and develop more curiosity and playfulness in our practice. And, during an extended savasana, you’ll relax to the sounds of crystal singing bowls, rain sticks, chimes and more. ✨🙏🏼🧘🏻‍♀️ 📸

What a beautiful weekend of learning and connection! We have six new restorative yoga teachers ready to share their gifts with the world. This was the second time I’ve held my Restorative Yoga Teaching Immersion, originally created for my small business, Flourish Meditation (now ). We spent four days together in the gorgeous Silent Hum studio at .body.hum - grateful for such a wonderful space to learn and practice. We enjoyed restorative yoga soundbaths with and .merat, who also offered a session on sound. Thank you both for sharing your gifts with us. Stay tuned for future trainings. 💫💞✨🫶

Had the most wonderful experience supporting my teacher last weekend for a large in-person breathwork journey, co-facilitating with the fabulous Julie and Kaden. It was so nice to be back at where Julie and I completed the second level of our breathwork training with Tai in March of 2024 - how can it almost be a year ago already??? It’s a big room that feels so cozy and nourishing. And it was amazing to be in such a large ceremony alongside such loving and thoughtful caregivers, holding space for some truly beautiful and brave humans. I’m so grateful for the community that has formed around Tai and her work. It’s supportive and inspiring and I feel so lucky to have found these humans. If you feel called to practice - or to learn to teach - check out Tai’s Instagram and her website. I host group breathwork journeys on the first Saturday of each month at .body.hum. 💕✨

Happy new year, all. Remember - winter is a time for rest and reflection. New Year pressure is a product of capitalism. All of nature is dormant and preparing to activate in the spring. If you feel called to rest and set intentions slowly and with ease, I’ve got you. Check out my website for group and private yoga, reiki, breathwork and sound healing opportunities in the new year, as well as trainings and retreats. I can’t wait to practice with you! 📸 for

Lately, whenever I feel my anxiety kick in (and it has been doing that more often lately), I keep circling back to the same thought over and over: take care of yourself.
❤️‍🩹
The world feels like it’s spinning out of control in so many ways, and I think many of us - myself included - aren’t feeling super excited about the coming of a new year. Instead, we feel nervous, uncertain - like the ground has been pulled out from underneath us. Which means that we need to ground.
❤️‍🩹
I’ve spent this year wrapping up trainings that have prepared me to take care of you, in a variety of ways. As we move into this introspective season of winter and prepare for the coming of a new year, with all the uncertainties that brings, I would love nothing more than to hold space for your rest and healing.
❤️‍🩹
For the month of December, use the code HOLIDAY and take 10% off private sessions with me in my studio on Queen Anne. Choose from a menu of options of ways we can work together - gentle and restorative yoga practices, yoga nidra and mindfulness meditations, sound baths, breathwork, and healing reiki touch.
❤️‍🩹
Nothing gives me greater joy than meeting you in this sweet space on the hill and holding you in love.
