Today on March 31st we proudly recognize Transgender Day of Visibility—a day dedicated to celebrating the resilience and lived experiences of transgender individuals. Visibility affirms the right of all people to live authentically.

Our blog explores the significance of this day and the importance of creating supportive spaces for transgender individuals in mental health and beyond. We also encourage you to tune into the Wild Heart Society Podcast, which talks with parents, experts, and transgender adults about their experiences with understanding identity and more.

Visibility is more than being seen—it’s about being valued and supported.

This week, March 9th-15th, Mente recognizes Sleep Awareness Week.

Quality sleep is essential for mental health, yet it is often overlooked. In Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams, neuroscientist Matthew Walker explores the profound impact of sleep on cognitive function, emotional regulation, and overall well-being.

As a mental health practice, we emphasize the critical role of restorative sleep in managing stress, anxiety, and mood disorders. This Sleep Awareness Week, we encourage you to adopt healthy sleep habits to support both mental and physical wellness.

Learn more about this initiative on the National Sleep Foundation's Website: https://www.thensf.org/sleep-awareness-week/

02/24/2025

As we recognize Eating Disorder Awareness Week, it's crucial to reflect on the gaps in traditional eating disorder recovery frameworks—particularly how they fail to address the unique experiences of marginalized communities. The Eating Disorder Harm Reduction Workers, in an open letter to the eating disorder recovery industry, highlight the urgent need to reimagine care practices through the lens of equity, cultural sensitivity, and harm reduction.

This week, we urge both clients and practitioners to reflect on how we can foster more inclusive, compassionate, and culturally responsive approaches to eating disorder recovery. We encourage you to read the full open letter and explore how these insights can inform healing practices across all communities.
