WAPP Eid Social — April 26, 2025

We are deeply grateful to Dr. Mona Khan and her husband, Mr. Akthar Khan, for graciously opening their home to us for today's WAPP Eid Social. Their warm hospitality and meticulous planning made this event truly special, and we are thankful for the beautiful space they provided.

We were thrilled to see an excellent turnout, including many new faces joining us for the first time. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Mona for her efforts in bringing together such a wonderful and vibrant crowd.

The highlight of the evening was the exceptional musical performance by Dr. Shoaib Haider Siddiqui and his talented band, Bilal snd Hasan (Dr Mahwash’s husband) Their energy and talent brought so much joy to the gathering and created unforgettable memories.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. Basma Raees for her mentorship and continued support of our aspiring students. We are also grateful for the presence of our esteemed board members — Dr. Mo Saeed, Dr. Tabby Saeed, Dr. Nauman Ahmad, Dr. Nehal Farooq, and Dr. Amar Sethi — whose participation added great value to the event.

We missed the presence of our other board members — Dr. Fareed Arif, Dr. Nida KN, Dr. Fatima Fareed, and Dr. Farrukh Hashmi — and hope to see them at future events.

A special thank you to all the volunteers — Zaheen Fatima, Sumaiya Fatima, Maryem Bakhtawar, Vaneeza Raees, Dua Sikandar, and Momal Jamali — for their tremendous efforts in helping organize and coordinate the event. Your dedication and hard work made the evening a great success.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this Eid Social a memorable and joyful occasion!

Posting in behalf of Dr. Badeea Qureshi:

“Folks. I love education. So I'm starting a new series for professionals in the mental health space. We are going to pick apart some complex and perhaps "controversial" topics that come up for us often in our day to day work.

I would so love your thoughts. I'm sure many of you have experience with this!

I have also opened up slots for peer supervision, $250/hr and I'm happy to see up to two folks together for a very mini group. This may be a more cost effective way to pick my brain.

Hope my voice isn't too raspy in these vids, still recovering from a horrendous cold, but I had a flood of creative energy today, so here you go!”

Noreen Gilani 👏👏👏💐🇵🇰Pride for the community 🇵🇰who has recently graduated from Nurse Practitioner School and has been officially designated as FNP now.

EvergreenHealth hospital’s each staff member got the following message/email today:

“Noreen Syed Gilani, RN, Is a Living Our Values Honoree
She was recognized in a Dec. 30 ceremony on 4 Silver.
Noreen's nomination story:

"Noreen was at the nurse's station when a visitor came out of a room screaming, I need help, she is not breathing. Noreen quickly looked at the monitor and saw that the patient for that room had stable vital signs. She was puzzled as this patient was not hers, and she thought, Let me go in to ease the concerns of this family member, but the patient looks just fine on the monitor.
When Noreen arrived in the room, she found a visitor in the chair slouched and blue, not breathing and unresponsive. She tried to call them out and realized that this visitor had choked on their sandwich. She stayed calm and delegated tasks to get more help as she performed the Heimlich maneuver on the lady. By the time help arrived, Noreen had cleared the airway and gotten this visitor back to breathing again.
This is amazing for Noreen to show excellence in many ways. First, she recognized the urgency in the family's voice when they called for help and got up to see what was going on.

Then faced with this crisis, she was able to stay calm and provide first aid help to this family member, which is what we do here at Evergreen – we take care of our patients and their families. If Noreen had just looked at the monitor and reassured this person calling for help that the patient was fine based on the monitor, I wonder what would have been the outcome of the person choking in the room. This person was later stabilized and transported to the Emergency Room for more assessment. She completely recovered. We are very thankful for Noreen and the entire team working on 4 Silver that Sunday afternoon. Excellence above all
