New data from Public Health - Seattle & King County shows that despite recent declines in overall overdose rates, communities of color in our region continue to be disproportionately impacted by opioid overdose and face significant barriers to treatment.

ETS is grateful to everyone who joined and supported our 9th annual Roots of Recovery event and gala. More than 380 guests, including Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson, came together to honor the work of our participants, staff, and partners as we enter a new chapter of care in our organization in western Washington.

Together, we raised $295,876 and the gifts keep coming in!

Our theme, “A New Chapter of Care,” was inspired by the individuals we serve, who continue to write their own stories every day. It also gave us space to reflect on our history, including our strong collaboration with Harborview Medical Center, and to look ahead as we build ETS’s new Health & Recovery Campus at 1700 Airport Way in S**O.

We also had the privilege of learning about Casey's story, an ETS participant, as well as the stories of ETS directors and board members, who helped bring to life what a new chapter of care can look like in our community.

You can watch our latest Roots of Recovery video featuring Casey, ETS, and Harborview medical staff to learn more about this work in action.

We’re just one week away from ETS’s Roots of Recovery gala, and we’d be honored to have you with us as we open “A New Chapter of Care” at ETS.

Together, we’ll celebrate 150 years of service and 30 years of REACH—milestones made possible by the people we serve and the support of our community. We’re also grateful to be joined by Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson, who will recognize the collective work it takes to build a more equitable, compassionate response to substance use and housing inequality.

The evening will feature an inspiring program, a lively paddle raise that directly supports people-centered care, and a crowd-favorite dessert dash made possible by our generous donors:

Can’t attend the Roots of Recovery gala on May 16? You can still make a meaningful impact today by making a gift to Evergreen Treatment Services.

Lena’s journey with ETS began when she was experiencing homelessness and facing the daily crisis of survival. Through compassionate, evidence-informed substance use treatment and the steady, on-the-ground support of the REACH team, she found stability, housing, and a path toward long-term recovery.

Stories like Lena’s remind us that recovery is about more than treatment alone. It’s about safe housing, consistent, person-centered care, and a community that refuses to give up on people. Your gift today helps connect these vital supports so more of our neighbors can move from crisis to stability, and from a life marked by stigma to one grounded in dignity and possibility.

Even if you can’t join us at the Roots of Recovery gala, you can still stand alongside Lena and countless ETS participants by making a gift today. Your support keeps families together, strengthens our community, and brings new possibilities within reach for people across Western Washington.

Thank you for helping sustain this vital work and for showing up for your neighbors through your generosity today.

The beginning of a new chapter must come at the close of another.

As we prepare for a new chapter of care at our ninth annual Roots of Recovery gala, we’re also honoring four extraordinary ETS staff members whose combined service at ETS exceeds 150 years: Sue Bailey, Carol Davidson, Kelley Craig, and Dr. Paul Grekin.

Their compassion, people-first leadership, and steadfast commitment to our mission have shaped Evergreen Treatment Services into the organization it is today and laid a strong foundation for what comes next.

Please join us in celebrating these four amazing retirees and their lasting impact on ETS, our participants, staff, and the communities they served. Read on in our blog as they share their key takeaways, lessons learned, and wishes for the future of our work.

The bail system has long drawn criticism for its disproportionate harm to low-income people and communities of color. Many have no choice but to remain jailed as they await trial because they can't afford bail.

Changes are now under consideration by the Washington State Supreme Court, including a $200 cap for most misdemeanors and a requirement that failures to appear in court are intentional before bail can be set.

Evergreen Treatment Services is proud to have signed on to a letter of support for these much-needed reforms, which would mark an important step forward in criminal legal reform. Read more about the proposed changes in the Seattle Times.

Changes would alter the way judges determine if bail should be imposed pretrial. The changes are long overdue, and would move our system toward greater justice.

In just under one month, we'll be in community with hundreds of partners, colleagues, friends, and new faces with one profound thing in common: we believe in the power of our participants in recovery.

For more than 50 years, Evergreen Treatment Services has been meeting people with opioid use disorder where they are with compassionate, evidence-informed recovery support services. Across three brick and mortar clinics, several mobile treatment vehicles, and street-based outreach services, ETS serves 13,000+ people annually.

This year’s signature event and is extra special for ETS because we’re writing our next chapter of care. 📖 To better serve our participants, we’re preparing to transform our Seattle clinic into a health and recovery campus on Airport Way. We will also honor and celebrate the past 30 years of REACH and turn toward the future of caring for the community.

⭐ Celebrate with us at the Seattle Convention Center's Summit on May 16, 6-10 p.m.

In the spirit of collaboration, we could not be more grateful for the generous support of Washington State Senator Maria Cantwell. Thanks to Senator Cantwell’s advocacy and belief in our vision, we’re humbled to share we’ve received a $3 million federal grant toward building our health and recovery campus at 1700 Airport Way.

We couldn’t do this life-changing work without champions like Senator Cantwell who believe in the power of a safe place to seek treatment, physical and mental health services, and connection. Stay tuned for more information about our new campus!
