On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Evergreen Treatment Services honors the Indigenous Nations whose ancestral lands sustain our work and communities today.

ETS acknowledges that our clinics and outreach services operate across the unceded territories of the dxʷdəwʔabš (Duwamish), bəqəlšuɬ (Muckleshoot), dxʷsəq̓ʷəbš (Suquamish), Stl’pulmsh (Cowlitz), sqʷax̌sədabš (Squaxin), dxʷsqʷaliʔabš (Nisqually), and Cayuse, Umatilla, and Walla Walla peoples.

These lands hold deep histories of care, stewardship, and resistance. We honor Indigenous peoples past and present, and reaffirm our responsibility to work toward healing, equity, and community well-being in the spirit of respect and reciprocity.

The map below shows the overlapping territories where ETS provides care. You can explore more about Indigenous land in this region at https://native-land.ca

Navigating the complex landscape of addiction treatment requires compassion and evidence-informed solutions. Dr. Susan Collins, a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in addiction psychology and harm reduction for substance use at the University of Washington, reminds us that involuntary treatment should be reserved for critical, life-threatening cases. With community support, accessible voluntary care, and careful research, we can build a system that respects human dignity while prioritizing safety and recovery.

Thank you, Dr. Collins, for sharing this important message and for joining ETS at our first-ever Hike for Recovery in Issaquah!

S had been homeless since 2016, but earlier this year through a partnership with REACH/Evergreen Treatment Services, S arrived at the Aurora Oaks Enhanced Shelter. From the moment she joined our community, she brought warmth, kindness, and a spirit of connection. S was not just a participant; she was a valued and uplifting presence whose determination to find herself a home and community inspired us all.

We are delighted to share that S has received her keys to permanent housing. While she will be missed at Aurora Oaks by staff and residents alike, we are overjoyed to see her step confidently into the next chapter of her life. Congratulations, S! Welcome home!
