Next time you’re in a rut, remember that women’s brains change drastically throughout our cycle. So if we’re not hacking the system by changing the way we approach our work or the tools we use, we might end up fighting our own biochemistry. Here are some tips to get your work flowing when you feel stuck - from how to stay focused, when to use a pomodoro timer versus a body double, and how to channel your creativity at its peak. 💛✨

🍋 Send this to your work bestie or your friend who loves tracking their cycle. ILY!!!

Out tomorrow 🥹

This book is not magic. It will not make your hormone problems go away. It won’t make you feel magically “well” overnight.

What it WILL do is take you from feeling burned out, depleted and pulled in 100 different directions

- to feeling like yourself again, being pulled back to your center by a more natural rhythm of rest and work, and the certainty that you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.

It’s gonna help you re-light that inner flame, say no to what’s not calling you and discover exactly what to do every month and *when* so you feel a sense of balance and rich fulfillment on a daily basis.

Telling this story is somehow healing. It’s a thread in all the chaos. A beautiful spark from a terrible fire. I can’t even begin to wrap my head around my mom being sick but it has been an incredible thing to have this outlet to pour my energy into something we started together. I have so much gratitude for every month she’s here and soaking up every minute. Right now I’m just floored that this came together from scratch while she’s still here to inspire it. My mom is the most incredible multitasker, the most sensible peaceful gloriously cheer filled woman you’ll meet. Always has things in the fire. And yet she knows how to rest. How to walk at sunset, how to sit at the beach with a really good meaningless book. She really leans into the BOTH and it’s teaching me more about my femininity and the energy cycle than I ever realized before. Planner comes out in July. Stay tuned for launch parties and much much more!!!

The journal that started it all ✨ These are low on stock so I am working on a reprint!!

Seeing your notes from the same day every cycle for several months in a row… I can’t even explain it.

It gives you this understanding of how YOU feel in each phase. You can’t buy that kind of information anywhere. No one else can do it for you. It’s 100% unique to you and your specific hormones.

But there are patterns! And that’s what this journal walks you through. Because there’s a lot of power in knowing how you’re gonna feel and how you want to direct your energy week to week.

It keeps you from getting distracted, bogged down, frustrated or letting the wrong things drain all of your energy.

Someone wrote to me the other day and said “Day 4 and it’s literally so validating” 🥹 I live for these messages.

I can’t wait for this to do for you what it did for me - to forever change the way you do things and the way you spend your time.

Stop beating yourself up for not being “on” 24/7 around the clock and get back in touch with the natural ebb and flow of your energy. 〰️

PART 4: Time to NOURISH 🍋🔋

Your energy tends to drop as your hormones reach their lowest point right before your period begins. There’s a natural invitation to slow down and turn inwards.

It’s a critical time to rest and reset. If we miss this opportunity cycle after cycle, we might just find ourselves burned out, exhausted and at the end of our rope. I know, I know, the world doesn’t slow down to match. You don’t have time.

But what if it wasn’t some unrealistic 5am routine? Honestly the idea of self care sort of falls flat now that it’s been so commercialized. Instead, think of this as like fueling up your car. You’re doing small things now so that you can show up later as the fullest most healthy version of yourself later.

What if you did just one thing every day of your period to restore and replenish your soul? Reading for fun, cooking something delicious and new, going for a walk with a podcast on.

When it comes to work & productivity, this is a really fascinating part of your cycle! Your intuition is heightened and you have a distinct ability to see the bigger picture. Connect to your analytical side and take a hard look at where you are and where you want to go.

This is an incredible opportunity to plan ahead. Your mind is open, your energy is on the rise as the days go by and ideas will start to flow easily. Make your lists, outline your projects and plan out your month. (I call this habit the Golden Day, and I have a whole template in my planner, coming out soon!!)

Nourish your body with bone broth, seaweed, coconut water, dark leafy greens, red fruits, black sesame seeds, dark chocolate and warming foods.

I just filmed a WHOLE get ready with me video about what I do differently in my Luteal phase but let’s get into it because this list is juicyyyyyy. SAVE ⬇️ this post for later so you can come back to it. As your progesterone reaches its peak, you may notice:

🚷 Your social energy drops
🧘🏽‍♀️ you *might* feel a little less anxious for the first week or so after you ovulate.
👓 It’s easier to pay attention and dig into the details
🧺 Suddenly it’s much easier to get organized or declutter

The science behind it is fascinating (and still very much being studied!). In this phase your body is technically preparing for pregnancy so I like to think of it as a natural time to wrap up projects and tie up any loose ends. You may feel decisive and find yourself knocking out errands and tasks you’ve been avoiding for weeks.

This can be a great time for…
👗 A closet clean out
💰 A budget meeting
🍽️ Meal prep!!!
🥭 Deep cleaning your fridge

The SECOND half of the Luteal phase is very different! As progesterone drops, your energy will start to wane. It might look a little like this:

🥱 Losing steam with the productivity
😓 Higher anxiety
😒 Feeling annoyed or irritated

Progesterone has a mood stabilizing effect so as your hormones reach their lowest points you may feel some swings. Eating and exercising to support your cycle can help:

🏃‍♀️ 20 minutes of rigorous exercise a day can help treat PMDD/depression.
🏆 In the Luteal phase this would look like a brisk walk or strength training rather than cardio
🍠 Eating complex carbs to help stabilize mood and ward off cravings that may make your blood sugar or mood even worse
🗣️ Communicate with others so they don’t get caught off guard if emotions run high.
📓 Take stock and use any irritation as a sign post towards things you want to change or things you need.

The very end of your cycle is a time to turn inwards. Take a couple things off your calendar if you can. Tune out unnecessary distractions or commitments. Maybe say no!

As always, every cycle is different and every body is different so take note of what works for you and the patterns you go through. Let me know if I should do more like this!

Next up!!! Ovulatory phase. This is a fun one. Research shows that as your estrogen peaks you have a heightened ability to communicate clearly (1) and see where others are coming from (2). Sources below.

🌶️ My favorite part about this phase is your confidence soars meaning you feel great and you feel great about yourself all while you have this added ability to articulate yourself so well. It is the PERFECT time to apply for a job, speak in front of people, negotiate salary or speak up in a big meeting.

🎟️ I love to use this time to get together with friends, go out, play, have a date night or throw a party - and it’s a great excuse to tidy up your home with all that extra energy too.

🍒 This is a good phase for cardio and eating fruits, high protein and dark leafy greens to flush out excess hormones.

🎲 You might be feeling lucky and you are definitely better at taking calculated risks at this point in your cycle so GO FOR IT! You’ve got it.
