Mission

The mission of PsychMed International is to provide sustainable psychological, medical, and educational training and services to individuals and communities in need due to natural or man-made disasters, human right-violations, conflict, or poverty. Values

PsychMed International will seek to accomplish its mission by valuing cultural and spiritual diversity and tradition, sustainability, education and access to health care for all people. What are the services that will be provided? Support services to be provided will include, but are not limited to: psychological and medical care, humanitarian projects, and educational programs and trainings. Who will be helped, who will receive the services? PsychMed International seeks to support and train children, youth, adults, and professional in communities affected by natural or man-made disasters, human right-violations, conflict, or poverty. Additional support may be given to individuals who wish to seek and participate in training and education. Individuals supported by PsychMed International to achieve training and employment goals have identified clear educational or vocational goals for the future, have a proven record of working toward those goals (i.e., academic excellence, initiative, volunteerism, entrepreneurship), have a record of strong moral character and integrity and have and will continue to contribute to wellbeing (growth / development) of their communities. Who will do the helping, provide the services? PsychMed International may engage in teaching, training, or mentorship in the United States and abroad, for the purpose of contributing towards the educational or vocational goals of the supported individuals. In times of need, particularly after natural or man-made disasters, conflict, or human-rights violations, board members, staff, clinicians, or other associates of PsychMed International may provide direct psychological and medical service. Where? What will be the geographic service area? The geographic service area includes the international community and the world at large for the purpose of engaging in sustainable growth and development. How will the services be delivered? What methods will be used? Services and support will be provided through direct care, teaching, training, and mentoring (if and when appropriate) consistent with the mission of PsychMed International. As PsychMed International seeks to practice sustainable care, individuals trained will be taught to train others within their sphere of influence. Additionally, PsychMed International will seek to perform ongoing program evaluations to ensure the value, quality, and adherence to evidence-based and ethical practices of the services provided.
