Yesterday on my way back from Canada, I pulled up to the border and saw a very long line of cars.

My first thought?
This is going to take forever!

Then I realized something.
I had healthy food packed for the trip, and this gave me the perfect opportunity to finish it.

So I did!

By the time I got to the front, I was pulled aside for an agricultural inspection.
My car was searched and I was asked to go inside for questioning.
And of course, any food brought across the border would have had to be confiscated.

But by then, it was already gone!

That long line I was annoyed about?
It turned out to be a gift!

It gave me exactly the time I needed to finish the food I had prepared!

Sometimes what seems like an inconvenience in the moment ends up working in our favor.

And sometimes the same is true of our health.

The small choices we make to nourish ourselves often pay off in ways we don't expect.

So many adults are living with a chronic illness. It doesn't have to be like this. Many of the most common ones are strongly influenced by the food we eat and the habits we practice every day.

This is good news because it means that we have more control than we might realize!

What we put on our plates today can shape how we feel, function, and live in the years ahead.

Small shifts, practiced consistently, can change the direction of our health.

Travel used to throw me completely off.
Different schedule. Different food. Different environment.
And I’d think, I’ll start again when I get home.
What changed?
I started building steady habits.
Now I don’t try to be “good” on travel days. I just try to be consistent.
That’s what protects your blood sugar. That’s what protects your energy. That’s what protects your future.
Small steady choices, even in airports, add up.
✈️ Headed home grateful for that shift.
