Some uplifting and hope-inspiring news about relationships:
Almost every relationship holds the potential to deepen and grow into a more thriving and fulfilling partnership!
To create that, intention, awareness, attention, and consistent effort are needed (also, see our last three posts, part 1-3).
More great news ~ there are things we can do to lighten and improve the mood and ambience, and infuse our days with more love, hope and harmony.
Here are 10 everyday relationship-enhancing ideas:
1. Be intentional about greeting your partner when they come home and giving them a hug/kiss as you wish them a good day when they leave to go to work or anywhere
2. Send a text or write a love note and place it where your partner will find it ~ it’s a quick way to brighten their day and remind them how much they mean to you!
3. A fun and loving little thing to do (not just once a day, but throughout the day): a 20 second love-boosting hug! Hug for at least 20 seconds to release oxytocin, the bonding chemical, and you’ll feel more connected, grounded, and uplifted. Also, hold each other a lot and often, and hold hands!
4. In the morning, set the tone for the day with some sweet, gentle, kind words and gestures. Also, before sleep; try not to go to bed with argumentative words and behavior (at minimum, commit to having a conversation the next day; you don’t have to resolve everything before bed, but you also don’t have to fight as you get ready for rest and relaxation)
5. Take a moment to truly express your appreciation, by acknowledging your partner for something they’ve done, or who they were being that you really appreciate
6. Ask your partner with a genuine interest if you can do anything for them, like help them with something they would normally do on their own
7. Light candles; buy each other flowers; wear that outfit your partner loves on you ~ every day can be a special occasion if you set your intention and make it happen
8. Do something together for the pure purpose of fun (put to-do list and logistics aside for even 15 min), try a new hobby, learn something new, explore nature (bonus tip: stargazing is very romantic) ~ do things daily that will ensure you are continually growing together, not apart
9. Reflect on your day during dinner or before bedtime, and share your "high" and your "low." If there’s something to explore deeper, acknowledge it and park it for the next day, etc.
10. Take a few moments to dream and envision what you want to experience together in the future. Get excited and motivated together
The beautiful thing is, there are hundreds of small actions you could take every day ~ and that, when done consistently, can make a huge difference in the nurturing of your relationships (and not just romantic, but relationships of all kind).
