Childhood Cancer Awareness month đź’›

When a child is diagnosed with cancer,
the whole family is diagnosed.

Siblings lose time with their parents.

Parents carry the weight of hospital stays, sleepless nights, and bills that feel impossible.

Families often split between home and hospital, trying to keep life "normal" for the other kids while fighting for one.

👉🏼 The hard truth: 1 in 4 families facing childhood cancer will experience financial devastation.

Many parents are forced to leave their jobs just to keep their child alive.

But these families are strong.
They hold each other tighter.
They fight together.

And with your support, they don't have to fight alone.

Team Tabby Memorial Golf Tournament is a week away and we are so grateful for everyone coming out.

Still looking for some more sponsors and foursomes if anyone wants to participate.

We never wanted this tournament postponed to September when it happened but I believe it was for a reason. September being Childhood Cancer Awareness month, I feel this is fitting.

Call 570-428-5411 to become a sponsor or donate in any way.

DM Tabby’s mom Jennifer Welshans if you want to volunteer that day as we still are looking for a few fun folks to help out.

This is childhood cancer.
It’s brutal.
It’s heartbreaking.
It’s difficult to face.
It’s raw.

This is the reality no parent should ever have to live. Yet it’s ours. The images that are seared into our minds forever.
Hospital rooms..
Monitors..
The look in our daughter’s eyes as we had to hold her hand for coutless pokes..
All of the tubes on her and down her throat post surgery..
The blackness in her eyes, the lifeless stillness, the unbearable coldness of her skin after she died…

These moments don’t fade, they haunt. They live with us, replaying over and over, a constant reminder of the cruelty that exists within childhood cancer.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. I’m begging you to pause, to let these images sink in, to truly feel the weight of what families like ours endure. Don’t look away. Share their stories, raise your voice, push for change. Because no parent should have to live with memories like these.

Something’s gotta be done!!!

Still looking for a few foursomes and some sponsors. Come on out and have some fun with us.

The Bucknell University Golf Course will host the first Tabby Welshans Memorial Golf Challenge on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 10am, with registration starting at 8:30am, in honor of Tabby Welshans. Tabby was a beloved Selinsgrove youth whose courageous life continues to inspire a community.

Tabby Welshans 11, passed away this past spring following a brave battle with an inoperable brain tumor. Her indomitable spirit, bright smile, and the joy she brought to everyone around her continues to live on in the hearts of family, friends, and all who knew her. The Memorial Tournament is a celebration of that spirit and a way to ensure her legacy endures.

Proceeds from the event will go toward establishing the Tabby Welshans Memorial Scholarship, which will be awarded annually to a graduating Selinsgrove Area High School senior who embodies the kindness, courage, and community-mindedness that defined Tabby’s life. The first $1000 scholarship was awarded at this year’s class day ceremony to Hannah Rowe.

“The idea is simple but powerful,” said Simona Napoli Lovik, Owner/Manager of the Selinsgrove Dairy Queen Grill and Chill, and a member of the organizing committee. “We want to turn our grief into good. Tabby loved people, and she made the world brighter. Through this scholarship, we hope to light the path for future students just as she lit ours.”

Meghan Balum, W&L Marketing Manager, announced that participants in the tournament will have the opportunity to win numerous exciting prizes, including a new 2025 Subaru Forester valued at $34,000, generously provided by W&L Subaru, for the first person scoring a hole-in-one on the #10 hole during the tournament.

“This isn’t just a golf outing—it’s a chance to come together for a cause, to honor a child who touched so many lives, and to help a deserving student pursue their future,” Balum commented.

The event will feature:
• A four-person scramble format
• Breakfast and Lunch refreshments
• Welcome Gift Bags
• Raffle prizes and contests
• A special tribute to Tabby and her family

Golfers, sponsors, and volunteers are all welcome and encouraged to participate. Team spots and sponsorships are still available.

“Though her time with us was far too short, Tabby’s impact will be everlasting,” said Ms. Balum. “No setback could shake her faith and she taught us that true strength is not just in fighting but in smiling through the storm. She never let her illness define her; instead, she defined herself through kindness, courage, and an unwavering belief in something greater.”

“She was a little girl who showed us how to live fully, love deeply and face adversity with an unyielding spirit. Tabby may be gone from our sight, but she will forever be in our hearts … a reminder that the bravest souls often come in the smallest packages.”
