This is childhood cancer.
It’s brutal.
It’s heartbreaking.
It’s difficult to face.
It’s raw.
This is the reality no parent should ever have to live. Yet it’s ours. The images that are seared into our minds forever.
Hospital rooms..
Monitors..
The look in our daughter’s eyes as we had to hold her hand for coutless pokes..
All of the tubes on her and down her throat post surgery..
The blackness in her eyes, the lifeless stillness, the unbearable coldness of her skin after she died…
These moments don’t fade, they haunt. They live with us, replaying over and over, a constant reminder of the cruelty that exists within childhood cancer.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. I’m begging you to pause, to let these images sink in, to truly feel the weight of what families like ours endure. Don’t look away. Share their stories, raise your voice, push for change. Because no parent should have to live with memories like these.
Something’s gotta be done!!!
