Happy 1 Year Anniversary to Brenna and myself. Cannot believe a year has passed already. A year ago today I was blessed with a beautiful functioning kidney from a beautiful, loving, caring, and giving niece, Brenna. I will always and forever be truly grateful for Brenna and Dean. They both have given so much of themselves to make a better life for me.
This time a year ago we were both in recovery, Brenna was moved to the transplant floor while I waited for a room. I was placed temporarily on another floor since there was no room on transplant floor. I wanted to see Brenna to see how she was doing, not long after that Brenna and her family made the trek up to see me. I felt so anxious, excited and also sad to see her in so much pain and also being so drained from surgery because of her willingness to share one of her kidneys. She is such a strong person. From her fainting at first from labs and going all the way through the transplant shows just what kind of person she is. She still has a tender area from surgery and it saddens me to see her suffering any kind of set backs, but she keeps telling me it’s a small price to see me healthy again. Can’t imagine what life would be like without their generous life saving kidney.
I would like to thank everyone again starting with Brenna, families, friends, Dr’s, health care and the great Lord above which made this incredible donation a success.
