About Rebecca School:

Founded in 2006, Rebecca School is an independent, private therapeutic day school based in New York City. We serve children with neurodevelopmental delays in relating and communicating, including autism spectrum disorders. Our team uses the DIRFloortime® model (Developmental, Individual-difference, Relationship-based), pioneered by Dr. Stanley Greenspan, to support meaningful engagement and emotional growth.

What you’ll do:

- Provide individual and group physical therapy sessions tailored to each student's developmental and gross motor needs

- Develop and implement individualized physical therapy programs
Collaborate closely with other disciplines including OT, SLP, and social work

- Work in a variety of physical and social settings based on student needs

- Train staff on therapeutic handling, motor milestones, ergonomic supports, and more

- Conduct evaluations, discharges, and ongoing progress monitoring

- Document treatment through session notes, progress reports, and communication with families

- Support referrals for assistive devices (wheelchairs, orthotics, etc.)

Education and Experience:

- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy

- Licensed to practice Physical Therapy in New York State

- Experience in pediatrics preferred but not required

- Familiarity with or interest in the DIRFloortime® model is a plus

- Strong communication and teamwork skills

- Passion for working with neurodiverse children and young adults

Compensation and Benefits:

Hours of Work: Monday, Thursday, Friday: 8:30am -3:30pm

Block Sports Physical Therapy is a leading outpatient facility that provides physical therapy on Long Island. We are the team sports medicine providers for a number of local colleges including Stony Brook University, St Joseph’s College and Suffolk County Community College. We are a growing practice with 3 locations on Long Island (Smithtown, Selden, and Massapequa).
Currently, we are looking for a dynamic physical therapist who is ambitious and goal oriented to join our staff. We are looking for a full-time physical therapist for our office in Smithtown. Orthopedic and Sports Medicine background is preferred. We offer a competitive salary with benefits and long term growth planning in the practice. New graduates are welcome! New graduates will be introduced with a mentorship program from our lead Physical Therapists.

Experience
• A Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program is required.

• CPR and First Aid .
• Familiarity with post operative orthopedic conditions and sports rehabilitation techniques is advantageous.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals are necessary.

Stony Brook University's Doctor of Physical Therapy program will be hosting its annual Baby Day on Monday, June 16 from 10:00 - 12:00. This experience is part of the students' Growth and Development course where they learn the details of infant motor and cognitive development. Each year, we try to recruit as many infants as possible so that the students can appreciate the wondrous variety of human development.
