Big changes are happening for NJ med spas 💭

As of Feb 16, 2026, New Jersey ended its COVID-era waiver for NPs. That means Advanced Practice Nurses must now have a formal collaborative agreement with a NJ-licensed physician to prescribe, inject, or use prescription-based devices.

On top of that, NJ’s corporate practice rules require a physician — not an NP — to own and control the medical entity. Many NP-owned med spas may now need both a collaborating physician and business restructuring to stay compliant.

NPs were given just 30 days to make changes.
