🐰🌸 Easter Bunny Brunch & Egg Hunt Fun! 🌸🐰

We had an egg-stra special day here at Shadyside Healthcare and Rehabilitation! While the weather may have been a little wet outside, it didn’t stop us from having a fantastic time - we simply brought the fun indoors for an exciting Easter egg hunt that everyone enjoyed! 🥚✨

Our residents, families, and community guests spent the morning enjoying delicious food, fun games, and of course, plenty of smiles and laughter. We were so excited to welcome the Easter Bunny for photos, and even our very own Nutmeg 🐾 joined in on the fun!

A very special thank you to Amy from Amedisys for helping bring the Easter Bunny to our facility - what a wonderful surprise for everyone! 🐰

We’d also like to recognize and thank our incredible Activities Department, Dietary Department, and all our department heads who worked so hard to make this event such a success.

And finally, thank YOU to our amazing community for coming out and celebrating with us - we love sharing these moments together! 🌷

We loved welcoming the Ridge Riders 4-H Club!

During their visit, 6 members spent time with our residents sharing more about their club and showing off their talents through a few hands-on demonstrations. They walked everyone through a woodworking project that turned into a squirrel feeder, brought 3 rabbits, and also did a cake decorating demonstration.

Our residents truly enjoyed learning from them and seeing their expertise in action. It was such a fun and meaningful visit, and we’re already looking forward to having them back on April 11 at 10:00 AM when they return with even more members to share additional projects.

There’s nothing like a little music, laughter, and good company to brighten the day. 🎤

Our residents had such a fun time at karaoke, and it’s easy to see just how much joy this sweet activity brought to the room. A big thank you to our housekeeper for helping make it such a special time for everyone.

🐾❤️ Meet Nutmeg – Our Emotional Support Dog! ❤️🐾

We are proud to officially introduce the newest (and furriest!) member of our team - Nutmeg, our Emotional Support Dog!

Nutmeg is here to provide comfort, companionship, and plenty of tail wags to brighten the days of our residents, families, and staff. From hallway strolls to quiet one-on-one visits, her gentle and loving personality is already making a meaningful impact throughout our home. Studies show that interaction with support animals can reduce stress, ease anxiety, lower blood pressure, and spark joyful memories and conversation.

We’re excited to share that Nutmeg recently graduated from the American Kennel Club S.T.A.R. Puppy Program (Socialization, Training, Activity, and Responsibility), building a strong foundation in obedience, behavior, and positive interactions - all essential qualities in a healthcare setting. 🎓⭐

She will begin her Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and CGC Advanced (CGCA) classes next week, continuing her training journey with the goal of becoming a certified therapy dog in the near future.

A special thank you to PAWZ IN TIME, LLC / HeartSoul Dog Training for providing her training and guidance as she works toward these important milestones! 🐶👏

Nutmeg is typically available for visits on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week, and she looks forward to bringing comfort, smiles, and a little extra joy during her time in the building.

🌱🌼 Garden Club is Officially in Bloom! 🌼🌱

We’re excited to share that our first Garden Club activity of the season was a wonderful success! Residents enjoyed spending time planting beautiful potted plants alongside Connie, getting their hands in the soil and soaking up the joy that comes with nurturing something new.

There’s something special about gardening — it brings smiles, sparks conversation, and creates a sense of purpose and accomplishment. 🌸 Watching our residents carefully plant and arrange their flowers was a beautiful reminder that growth happens at every stage of life.

This is just the first of many Garden Club gatherings planned for the season, and we can’t wait to see what continues to bloom — both in our pots and in the hearts of our residents. 💚

If anyone in our community would like to donate gardening supplies or plant propagations, our residents would absolutely love the opportunity to continue nurturing and growing their garden. Your generosity helps keep the joy blooming! 🌿

We’re excited to share some wonderful news with our Shadyside community! 💇‍♀️

To better serve our residents, we’ve welcomed a second beautician to our Beauty Shop team. Holly will now be available on Wednesdays, alongside Patty, who will continue seeing residents on Tuesdays.

Our Beauty Shop is such a special place, not just for hair services, but for conversation, confidence, and those little moments that make the day brighter. We’re so happy to expand this offering and continue providing services our residents know and love.

🎄 Holiday Resident & Family Meal at Shadyside Healthcare & Rehabilitation 🎄

There’s nothing more meaningful during the holiday season than being together with the people we love. This week, our facility was filled with warm smiles, great food, music, laughter, and the joy of families gathering around the table with our residents.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this special day one to remember. Seeing so many families reconnect, celebrate, and spend time with their loved ones is what the holidays are truly all about. ❤️

A huge shout-out to our amazing kitchen team, who prepared and served over 200 meals with incredible care and dedication. Your hard work made this celebration possible, and our residents felt every bit of it.

And thank you to our department heads and all the staff who jumped in to set up, serve, clean, coordinate, and bring this entire event to life. Events like these are possible because of your commitment to our residents and our community.
