Just some pictures over the last couple of weeks! Trying to squeeze the last bit of veggies out of the garden (drought killed the pumpkins despite all my watering). Plus, market life, making pizza sauce, my coffee consumption is through the roof, and some teeny pinto beans that made it (it's a miracle πŸ˜‚). Oh, and my Fitbit step count, which seems to be the norm lately. πŸ˜ΊπŸ•πŸπŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«πŸ˜΄

Self care doesn’t have to be complicated ✨ My go-to comfort crew? A massage gun for when my muscles hate me, a lotion that saves my hands from sandpaper status, and slipper sandals that make my sore feet feel like they’re at the spa (even if I’m just in my kitchen). πŸ›‹οΈπŸ’†β€β™€οΈ

Breakfast this morning was a leftover slice of dill pickle focaccia, cheddar cheese, and an avocado that was on its last day. I'm not into food waste, so I eat whatever needs to be eaten every day.
I wasn't always this way, though.
I come from a large family where there were no real leftovers. We were hungry, athletic, teens and kids who ate all the dinner (as fast as we could) and then raided the pantry every night. (Trust me when I say we had PLENTY of food, we also just all ate like linebackers).
When I got to college, with roommates, and made too much food for myself, I threw the remainder in the trash. One of my roommates asked why I didn't just save the leftovers and I said, "I didn't realize you could save leftovers. We never had leftovers."
After that, I started to think differently about food and waste and thirty years later....my diet is mostly dictated by what needs to be eaten next before it goes bad.
So, here is my dill pickle focaccia avocado cheesy toast. It wasn't my fave, but I'm full. πŸ˜‰
Classic Focaccia recipe is on the website, but if you want to make it dill pickle then omit the oregano and basil and add your fave sliced pickles before baking. It's great, as long as you don't turn it into avocado toast πŸ˜‰

Grief shows up in unexpected ways-sometimes at the dinner table, sometimes in the memory of a meal you can't have anymore. Learning to live without gluten (and other foods we react to) is never just about food; it's about learning to carry loss and grief with grace.
New blog is up on the website. If you're going through it, read it.

🩷✨Knead to Know Info (Before you begin)✨🩷

πŸ‘©πŸΌβ€πŸ³ Make sure you have the right tools. You can start with a hand mixer, but I highly recommend even the cheapest stand mixer. Your hands will thank me one day.

πŸ“¦Get your flours from trusted sources like . Great people!

🌑️Buy an oven thermometer. Oven temperatures can vary and vegan/GF baking needs the right temperature to bake evenly.

πŸ“ƒ Always use the flour blend suggested in the recipe. The baker tested this recipe with a certain flour blend and it may not work with your cup for cup blend from the grocery store (those have added ingredients).

😌 Last, be patient. Follow the recipes and you'll eventually get it right. Everyone starts somewhere.

Full list of tips are in the website!πŸ’«

Happy baking! πŸ₯¨πŸ₯žπŸžπŸ₯–πŸ§πŸ₯§πŸ©πŸͺ
