Erykah Badu Posing for her High School Senior Picture in 1989.The Photo at the very bottom was also Taken in 1989.Erica Abi Wright (born February 26, 1971), known professionally as Erykah Badu, is an American singer and songwriter. Influenced by R&B, soul, and hip hop, Badu rose to prominence in the late 1990s when her debut album Baduizm (1997), placed her at the forefront of the neo soul movement, earning her the nickname "Queen of Neo Soul" by music critics.Erykah Badu was born in Dallas, Texas. Badu had her first taste of show business at the age of four, singing and dancing at the Dallas Theater Center and The Black Academy of Arts and Letters (TBAAL) under the guidance of her godmother, Gwen Hargrove, and uncle TBAAL founder Curtis King. By the age of 14, Badu was freestyling for a local radio station alongside such talent as Roy Hargrove. In her youth, she had decided to change the spelling of her first name from Erica to Erykah, as she believed her original name was a "slave name". The term "kah" signifies the inner self. She adopted the surname "Badu" because it is her favorite jazz s**t sound; also, among the Akan people in Ghana, it is the term for the 10th-born child. After graduating from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, Badu went on to study theater at Grambling State University, a historically black university. She left the university in 1993 before graduating, to focus more fully on music. During this time, Badu took several minimum-wage jobs to support herself. She taught drama and dance to children at the South Dallas Cultural Center. Working and touring with her cousin, Robert "Free" Bradford, she recorded a 19-song demo, Country Cousins, which attracted the attention of Kedar Massenburg. He set Badu up to record a duet with D''''Angelo, "Your Precious Love", and eventually signed her to a record deal with Universal Records.
Badu''''s career began after she opened a show for D''''Angelo in 1994 in Fort Worth, leading to record label executive Kedar Massenburg signing her to Kedar Entertainment. Her first album, Baduizm, was released in February 1997. It spawned four singles: "On & On", "Appletree", "Next Lifetime" and "Otherside of the Game". The album was certified triple Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Her first live album, Live, was released in November 1997 and was certified double Platinum by the RIAA.
Her second studio album, Mama''''s Gun, was released in 2000. It spawned three singles: "Bag Lady", which became her first top 10 single on the Billboard Hot 100 peaking at #6, "Didn''''t Cha Know?" and "Cleva". The album was certified Platinum by the RIAA. Badu''''s third album, Worldwide Underground, was released in 2003. It generated three singles: "Love of My Life (An Ode to Hip-Hop)", "Danger" and "Back in the Day (Puff)" with ''''Love'''' becoming her second song to reach the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #9. The album was certified Gold by the RIAA. Badu''''s fourth album, New Amerykah Part One, was released in 2008. It spawned two singles: "Honey" and "Soldier". New Amerykah Part Two was released in 2010 and fared well both critically and commercially. It contained the album''''s lead single "Window Seat", which led to controversy.
Badu''''s voice has been compared to jazz singer Billie Holiday. Early in her career, Badu was recognizable for her eccentric style, which often included wearing very large and colorful headwraps. She was a core member of the Soulquarians.
As an actress, she has played a number of supporting roles in movies including Blues Brothers 2000, The Cider House Rules and House of D. She also has appeared in the documentaries Before the Music Dies and The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975.
AWARDS & NOMINATIONS
In 1997, Badu received twenty nominations and won three, Favorite Female Solo Single for "On & On", Favorite Female Solo Album for Baduizm and Best R&B/Soul or Rap Song of the Year for "On & On" at the Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards.
In 1998, Badu received fourteen nominations and won eight, including Favorite R&B/Soul or Rap New Artist at the American Music Awards; Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for "On & On" and Best R&B Album for Baduizm at the Grammy Awards; Outstanding New Artist and Outstanding Female Artist at the NAACP Image Awards; Favorite Female Soul/R&B Single for "On & On", Favorite Female Soul/R&B Album for Baduizm and Favorite New R&B/Soul or Rap New Artist for "On & On" at the Soul Train Music Awards.

July 9 is not just the birthday of a Hollywood legend โ€” itโ€™s the celebration of a modern-day moral compass. Tom Hanks has never chased the spotlight. Instead, the spotlight has followed him โ€” drawn to his character, both on screen and off.
!! Every Role Was a Message
He taught us about perseverance in Cast Away. About grief in The Green Mile. About justice in Bridge of Spies. And about love in Sleepless in Seattle. Through every story, he gave us not just emotion โ€” he gave us understanding.
!! Hollywoodโ€™s North Star
In an industry of fleeting fame, Tom stood steady. Humble. Ethical. A gentleman who speaks softly, acts boldly, and believes deeply in the good of humanity.
This birthday, letโ€™s wear a tribute โ€” not just to an actor,
But to a man who reminds us that goodness never goes out of fashion.

Loco (1823โ€“February 2, 1905) was a notable chief of the Copper Mines Mimbreรฑo Apache who gained recognition for his unwavering commitment to peace with the U.S. Army, even when his fellow Apaches, like Victorio and Geronimo, chose resistance. Despite the turbulent times, Loco's legacy is defined by his diplomacy and vision for the future of his people.
Name and Legacy Locoโ€™s Apache name was Jlin-tay-i-tith, meaning "Stops His Horse." While one theory suggests that he earned his nickname, โ€œLocoโ€ (Spanish for crazy), due to his supposed trust in white settlers, historians like Bud Shapard argue that Loco got the name for his bravery during a battle against the Mexicans, when he risked gunfire to save an injured warrior. This story was shared by Loco himself to John Gregory Bourke in 1882.
Leadership as Chief After the deaths of prominent Apache leaders like Cuchillo Negro and Mangas Coloradas, Loco emerged as a key leader of the Copper Mines Mimbreรฑo Apache. Along with Victorio, chief of the Warm Springs Mimbreรฑos, Loco worked to protect the rights and sovereignty of their people. Following the removal of the Mimbreรฑo reservation at Ojo Caliente, both Loco and Victorio led their people back to their homeland in protest of the U.S. Governmentโ€™s attempts to relocate them to the Mescalero reservation. However, Loco was eventually captured and could not join Victorio in his final battles.
Locoโ€™s Peace Advocacy Locoโ€™s peace efforts were evident when he refused to join forces with Geronimo in 1882, despite pressure. Instead, he chose to resist through guerilla warfare against Geronimoโ€™s militants, advocating for a peaceful resolution. His commitment to diplomacy was demonstrated in 1886, when he traveled to Washington, D.C. to negotiate on behalf of his people. Unfortunately, like Geronimo, he was imprisoned and exiled to Florida.
Legacy Unlike the more militant figures like Geronimo and Victorio, Loco's enduring legacy lies in his pursuit of peace. He was a strong advocate for education, and in 1884, he became the first chief to send his children to school at the San Carlos Agency. His son was also the first Apache to attend the Indian school in Alabama in 1889.
Discussion: Loco's dedication to peace, education, and the future of his people sets him apart as a significant leader in Apache history. What do you think about his approach to leadership compared to other Apache figures like Victorio or Geronimo? Letโ€™s keep the conversation going! Share your thoughts below!

Dull Knife โ€“ Northern Cheyenne Chief
The life of Dull Knife, the Cheyenne Chief, is a true hero tale. He is a pattern for heroes of any race, simple, child-like yet manful, and devoid of selfish aims or love of gain.
Dull Knife was a chief of the old school. Among all the Indians of the plains, nothing counts save proven worth. His courage, unselfishness, and intelligence measure a manโ€™s caliber. Many writers confuse history with fiction, but in Indian history, their women and old men, and even children witness the main events. Not being absorbed in daily papers and magazines, these events are rehearsed repeatedly with few variations. Though orally preserved, their accounts are therefore accurate. But they have seldom been willing to give reliable information to strangers, especially when asked and paid for.
Racial prejudice naturally enters into the account of a manโ€™s life by enemy writers, while one is likely to favor his race. I am conscious that many readers may think I have idealized the Indian.
Therefore I will confess now that we have too many weak and unprincipled men among us. When I speak of the Indian hero, I do not forget the mongrel in spirit, false to the ideals of his people. Our trustfulness has been our weakness, and when the vices of civilization were added to our own, we fell heavily.
It is said that Dull Knife was resourceful and self-reliant as a boy. He was only nine years old when his family was separated from the rest of the tribe while on a buffalo hunt. His father was away and his mother busy, and he was playing with his little sister on the banks of a stream when a large herd of buffalo swept down upon them on a stampede for water. His mother climbed a tree, but the little boy led his sister into an old beaver house whose entrance was above water, and here they remained in the shelter until the buffalo passed and their distracted parents found them.
Dull Knife was a youth when his tribe was caught in a region devoid of game and threatened with starvation one winter. Heavy storms worsened the situation, but he secured help and led a relief party a hundred and fifty miles, carrying bales of dried buffalo meat on pack horses.
Another exploit that made him dear to his people occurred in battle when his brother-in-law was severely wounded and left lying where no one on either side dared to approach him. As soon as Dull Knife heard of it, he got on a fresh horse and made so daring a charge that others joined him; thus, under cover of their fire, he rescued his brother-in-law and in so doing, was wounded twice.

Actor, film director, film producer and musician Keanu Charles Reeves (Keanu Charles Reeves),
Missed the first 20 minutes of the party dedicated to the end of filming of his new film in one of the clubs in New York.
He waited patiently in the rain to be let in.
No one recognized him.
The club owner said: "I didn't even know Keanu was standing in the rain waiting to be let in - he didn't say anything to anyone."
"He travels by public transport".
"He easily communicates with homeless people on the street and helps them".
- He is only 58 years old (September 2, 1964)
- He can just eat a hot dog in the park, sitting between ordinary people.
- After filming one of the "Matrix", he gave all the stuntmen a new motorcycle - in recognition of their skill.
- He gave up most of the fee for the salaries of costume designers and computer scientists who draw special effects in "The Matrix" - decided that their share of participation in the budget of the film was underestimated.
- He reduced his fee in the film The Devil's Advocate" to have enough money to invite Al Pacino.
- Almost at the same time his best friend died; his girlfriend lost a child and soon died in a car accident, and his sister fell ill with leukemia.
Keanu did not break: he donated $5 million to the clinic that treated his sister, refused to shoot (to be with her), and created the Leukemia Foundation, donating significant sums from each fee for the film.
You can be born a man, but to remain one..

Birmingham was born in San Antonio, Texas. His family moved frequently during his childhood, due to his father's career in the military. He learned to play the guitar at an early age and considers music his "first love". After obtaining a Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern California, he worked as a petrochemical engineer before becoming an actor. In the early 1980s, a talent scout spotted Birmingham at a local gym, where he had been bodybuilding and entering bodybuilding contests. This led to his first acting experience, in a music video for Diana Ross, for her 1982 hit song "Muscles". After appearing in Ross' music video, Birmingham began to pursue acting as his primary career. He studied acting with Larry Moss and Charles Conrad. In 1986, Birmingham made his television debut on an episode of the series Riptide. By 2002, he had a recurring role as the character Oz in the medical drama Body & Soul, starring Peter Strauss. In 2005, he was cast as the older Dogstar in the Steven Spielberg six-part miniseries Into the West. He recently played a Texas ranger a ranger, in Hell or High Water, opposite Jeff Bridges.
