Livin my best life with my low ridin bro, Higgins, who was saved by It’s the Pits Dog Rescue! I'm Louie - a diamond eyed butterball rescued by Per Orphans of Southern California. Living my best life with my newly adopted baby gorilla bro, Higgins, who was rescued by It’s the Pits Dog Rescue! I was surrendered to Carson Shelter in January of 2015 with a severe case of mange. I was terrified of everyone and everything, and would growl whenever someone approached my kennel. Carson thought I was aggressive, and I was scheduled to be euthanized. Thankfully, Pet Orphans of Southern California pulled me from Carson and saved my life! Turns out, I wasn't aggressive at all...just scared and in a lot of pain. Pet Orphans gave me the proper medical treatment and LOADS of TLC. I LOVED all the good humans there, but I always had to be carried to my kennel after walks because all the other dogs scared me. My Ma volunteers for Pet Orphans, and would always walk me first when she got there. She fostered me for the first time in November of 2015, but sadly had to take me back. Then she fostered me again in December of 2015...and I haven't been back to the rescue since! Ma believes I was abused in my first "home", as a lot of noises, random things scare me (i.e. when Ma folds laundry, or when anyone raises something above my head), but I am becoming more and more confident. I really bonded with my lil' bro (a half French Bulldog/part Pug/part something else mix), who was also named Louie (Ma didn't change my name cause she thought it was fate). Sadly, he passed away in 2016 and I miss him everyday. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be who I am today. He truly taught me how to love life and how to “dog.”
