🌟🥚 Special Needs Egg Hunt at Pecan Grove East Park! 🥚🌟

Sherman Parks and Recreation is proud to host our Adaptive Egg Hunt, a special egg hunt designed with kids of all abilities in mind! This is a celebration of inclusivity, joy, and community, and we want every child to have a moment to shine.

💰 FREE to attend!

🎀 Please gather near the pavilion before 10:15 AM! Our team will cut a ribbon to signal the start of the hunt, so you won't want to miss it! We chose this as a gentle, excitement-filled way to kick things off that works for everyone.

🗺️ Check the map to see areas where eggs may be hidden and to locate the Sherman Parks tent!

🐰 Keep your eyes open because the Easter Bunny may be walking around the event!

🏆 Make sure to peek inside your eggs because you just might be a winner!

Today we celebrate World Down syndrome day by recognizing the work our students with Down Syndrome have done. Face submersion, independent swimming 75 feet, jumping in, safe pool entry and exit, breath control, independent noodle swim and learning that swimming is fun with friends! We are always honored to be included in advocating for some of our students. 💙💙

Tonight, the City of Sherman took an important step in recognizing and supporting our autism community.

Mayor Shawn Teamann and Council Member Clay Barnett presented a proclamation recognizing April 2026 as Autism Awareness Month and March 17th as Profound Autism Awareness Day, presented to The Owen Foundation.

While we were honored to accept this proclamation, this recognition does not belong to our organization alone. It belongs to every autism family in Sherman and throughout Texoma.

Awareness and recognition are the first steps toward meaningful action. They open the door to deeper understanding, stronger community support, and safer, more inclusive environments for individuals with autism, especially those with profound autism who require lifelong support.

We are incredibly grateful to the City of Sherman, The Owen Foundation Board Members, and our community partners who continue to stand beside autism families and help move this mission forward.

Together, awareness becomes action. And action creates change. 💙

TBRI Webinar Announcement
Caregivers, parents, educators, administrators, and swim school owners or instructors are invited to join a webinar hosted by Cook Children's. The session will focus on the principles of Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) and how they can be implemented in swim instruction as well as other activities for children.
