Burnout Isn’t Always Physical

I wasn’t running the floor anymore.
I sat at a desk.
I had regular hours.

And I was still completely exhausted.

Burnout doesn’t always look like physical labour. Sometimes it looks like mental overload, emotional depletion, and having nothing left when you get home.

I share this part of my story because so many nurses think they should feel better once they “leave the hard role.” But burnout follows the nervous system, not the job title.

🦄 I don't even know what happened with the second half of 2025, it's been a blur of activity. In July, I was able to provide moral support when Snohomish Midwives gave an education session to one station of the Everett FD to build community and support when EMS is called to a home birth (I didn't do anything but check out the ff and ems LOL).

🦄 September I was honored have been asked to present at Modern Nurse Fest in Anchorage AK (love these nurse conferences put on BY nurses FOR nurses) and then joined friends at an informational picket. November was the start of holiday market season and I'm grateful for my friends being able to jump in and help me with my tabling. December is kismet between my post and the SCH union post 😘

🦄 2026 will have some very exciting leaps and bounds for where I'm going in my business! Starting with an amazing collab between myself and Rise Beyond Trauma and Professional Witch (🎤 ), a new herbal product line for Pregnancy & Postpartum and Unicorn Dreams sleep tea and a Burnout-Recovery-Package for more staff support coming to a floor, department and staff meeting near you ✨

🦄 The first part of 2025 brought about a lot of change for me and my business. I felt like I was easing into 2025 and suddenly it was full speed ahead with 4 nurse conferences in April & May. My website got a revamp (thanks Runnels & Rourk!) and I now have swag including the very popular Burnout Bingo (courtesy of the amazing Laura @ Front Door Creative ✨ ).

🦄 Building a business is never in a vacuum even for a solo-preneur and I'm very grateful for the community that I've been able to surround myself with that uplifts and supports me 🫶 It started with joining the Shoreline Chamber of Commerce (of which I'm now the Communications Committee chair) and being asked to join the PNAnw networking group (Shoreline chapter is lit).
