WORTH A SECOND LOOK!!!!!
THEY NEED OUR HELP!!! I'm posting the interview again so that everyone can get an idea of what Friends of the Sierra Vista Public Library does for the community!
AN URGENT APPEAL FROM
Friends of the Sierra Vista Library Bookstore
Est. 1973 2377 E Fry Blvd, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635
"For over fifty years, this little bookstore has been more than shelves and spines. It has been a sanctuary."
Since 1973, the Friends of the Sierra Vista Library Bookstore has been woven into the very fabric of this community. Tucked into the same mall as Spur Western Wear and Papa Murphy's, it has been the kind of place you stumble into on a Tuesday afternoon and leave an hour later, arms full, heart lighter — because that's what good bookstores do.
For children, it has been the place where a love of reading quietly took root. For seniors, a weekly ritual and a reason to get out of the house. For veterans, teachers, single parents stretching every dollar — a place where great books, CDs, DVDs, and other materials are within reach at prices that don't sting. And when the store turns a profit, every dollar goes right back to our local library, amplifying its mission to serve every member of this community.
This is not a corporation. There are no shareholders. This is neighbors helping neighbors — and right now, those neighbors need your help.
TIME-SENSITIVE
Without raising $40,000 by early spring 2026, this bookstore will be forced to close its doors permanently in June or July — ending over five decades of community service. The clock is running. The shelves are waiting. The story doesn't have to end here.
We are not asking for much from any one person — just whatever you can spare. Five dollars. Twenty. A hundred. Every contribution, no matter the size, is a vote for the kind of community Sierra Vista wants to be: one where knowledge is accessible, where neighbors still gather, and where a quiet corner with a good book is never more than a short drive away. We are a 501(c)(3) organization (EIN 23-7305245) and you can reduce your Arizona state taxes dollar-for-dollar by donating to qualified charities (QCOs). For 2025, donations up to $495 (single)/$987 (joint) for QCOs.
We also need volunteers to help with online sales where we are receiving a good portion of our revenue. If you have a few hours a week, please come by the store and volunteer.

If this bookstore has ever given you anything — an afternoon of peace, a book that changed you, a place to simply belong — now is the moment to give something back
