Oh hey friends! It's been a bit so I thought I'd reintroduce myself!
My name is Jamie Sterk and I am the owner of Wounded Healer Recovery. I provide and teach the spiritual tools of yoga and Reiki to those on a recovery or healing journey. 🤍🤍
The idea behind Wounded Healer Recovery began about 4 years ago during a dark time in my life. I was ending an abusive relationship, had 4 children at home including twins that were under 1 year of age, and working at a school when Covid hit our nation. During this time I had committed to a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher training. Even though we completed most of the training via zoom, something inside of me was set on fire to share what I was learning with others.
At the time I was 9 years sober but not in recovery. I was just maintaining life but not really living. During one of our training weekends we were learning about Yin yoga and in the book, The Complete Guide to Yin Yoga by Bernie Clark, was the Serenity Prayer:
"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."
At that point I knew what I needed to do...I needed to share this way of life with others. At that moment I began my journey into recovery not just sobriety.
Since that time I have helped 100's of people on their healing journey through private yoga, 5th step experience with Reiki, personal Reiki sessions, classes through Community Education or Saturday's Recovery Yoga class. I teach weekly at the Juvenile Detention Center through Journey of Hope, The Glory House and have worked with Move to Heal teaching children at Boys & Girls Club of the Sioux Empire and Garfield Elementary. I am beyond grateful that I am able to share with others the tools that have helped me through some of the tough times I have faced these last 4 years.
Today I am a grateful recovering alcoholic/addict of 13 years. I am a mom to 5 amazing children and a foster mom of over 2 years. I currently live with metastatic breast cancer but that hasn't slowed me down one bit! I feel great joy from helping others and sharing my story of hope and resilience. I am excited for what the future holds for Wounded Healer Recovery.
If you want to know more, have questions or just want to get together for coffee to chat, you can reach me via my website, FB or Insta. I look forward to helping you on your healing journey.
