Sioux Falls Walks Have you ever heard of a running group? Well this is like that, but no running. It's for everyone and anyone who just wants a reason to get out and get active.

We are not strangers, we are neighbors in your community, providing an opportunity.

Why consistency matters:

Drinking a 16oz soda everyday: +200 calories x 365 = +73,000 calories.

Walking 2 miles every day: -200 calories x 365 = -73,000 calories.

Happy Monday everyone! πŸ™‚β˜•
This week, I will be making the events, but not sending invites every time. I'm not able to see all of my followers anyway, and I have no idea what all you see when you are a follower. So, in order to not overwhelm everyone with daily event invites, I'm going to only send one event invite a week, but all of the events will be listed on the page, so don't forget to check them out. I hope to see you there!

Just in case you haven't noticed, we always wait five minutes from the posted time before we begin the walk. So don't give up if you might be a couple minutes late. You can also use messenger and send us a message to let us know you are on your way. πŸ™‚πŸ‘

Let us introduce ourselves.πŸ˜‰ Some of you know us, and some of you don't, but really we are not that scary. We are just two 40/something year-old kids who happen to be married and have 4 kids of our own. This Sioux Falls Walks page was born out of a combination of my own personal desire to have more "workout" partners, (because let's admit it, it's easier to start something when you are not alone), and a combination of Ricky's creative thinking and problem solving. He mentioned the idea to me once while on a walk that he wasn't that excited to be on, as I had been saying that I struggle going out on the trail alone but need to exercise. Well, the idea kept rolling around in my head until one day I finally decided to put it to good use.
We haven't figured everything out yet, as anyone who has joined us on a walk has probably noticed, but we are working on it. My hope is to not only inspire you and give you courage on your own health journeys, but also that some of you might also want to be the "leader of the day", if you will. I would love for some of you to pick a day/time/place and own it. Post it up here, share it with your friends, and be willing to follow through and go, even if you're not sure if anyone will come. You might just end up making new friendships, or strengthening old ones, all while working towards a healthier you.
So now that you see our faces bright and clear, don't be a stranger. Reach out, leave a comment, send a message, let us know your thoughts. We'd love to hear them, and we'd love this to be as much a part of your story as it is our own.πŸ’›

Pictures from today's walk. I was wrong on distance, but not on difficulty. I love this walk because it is circular, you end up where you started, and the views are quite nice. Not for anyone who struggles with balance or inclines(although there are only a couple), but great for a family with older children, or a couple out for a nice stroll. It's closer to 1.5 miles than 1 mile, but such a nice walk. Great weather this morning too. πŸ™‚

Heads up. Jumping into summer this next week to take full advantage of this short season. Weather permitting we will aim at having a time and place for Monday through Saturday for this next week to test it out. I have also had requests to describe the difficulty of each walk and to set distances, so I will be testing that out as well. As a side note to that, most of our walks have been on the biking and walking trail that loops around most of the city, this trail is paved and mostly beginner level, so distance will be the only way to gauge difficulty on walks for this trail. The two times we have been on unpaved paths have not been anything too crazy, but would fall under more of an intermediate level. I will specify if we are walking a paved or unpaved trail with each event post. I really look forward to seeing who joins us on these upcoming walks. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please feel free to send a message. Thanks everyone!
