As we close out the last Wednesday of Mental Health Awareness Month and prepare to enter June’s PTSD Awareness Month, let this be your reminder that healing is not limited to a calendar month.

Mental health matters every day.

This season may have challenged you mentally, emotionally, spiritually, or physically but one thing about growth is this:

✨ You can start over at any time.
✨ You can reset your mindset at any time.
✨ You can become intentional about your healing at any time.

Being intentional means checking in with yourself honestly.
It means protecting your peace.
It means choosing rest, boundaries, support, therapy, prayer, accountability, and self-awareness.

Heyyyy Y'all! Real Talk TYME Community, it's What's Up Wednesday! I am Hammond, LA and here is What's Up With ME!

Today I intentionally chose to show up for myself.

I had the opportunity to attend the “Growth” conference at Southeastern Louisiana University featuring and the powerful message of “Leading With Purpose.”

As a business owner, wellness coach, and nonprofit leader, I understand that growth requires more than vision, it requires intentionality, discipline, learning, and continuous development.

Today reminded me that leadership is not just about building organizations. It is also about building yourself.

I am grateful for the opportunity to pour into my personal and professional growth, gain new tools for success, and create space to strategically prepare for the month of June with clarity and purpose.

Showing up intentionally matters.
Leading with purpose matters.
Growth matters.

Thankful for every opportunity to evolve, empower, transform, and heal.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and today is a reminder that choosing YOU is not selfish, it is necessary!

Normalize:
✔ Going to the doctor when something doesn’t feel right
✔ Annual checkups and preventive care
✔ Therapy, coaching, pastoral counseling, and support groups
✔ Asking for help before you reach burnout
✔ Paying attention to your mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health
✔ Health insurance and life insurance as forms of protection, not punishment
✔ Investing in your wellness the same way you invest in everything else in life

Sometimes we ignore pain because we are “busy.”
Sometimes we stay silent when our minds drift into dark places.
Sometimes our spirits become exhausted from carrying things we were never meant to carry alone.

Your mind matters.
Your body matters.
Your spirit matters.
If something hurts, get checked out.
If your thoughts feel heavy, talk to someone.
If your energy feels off, take time to replenish your spirit and protect your peace.
Healing requires honesty.
Growth requires maintenance.

At Real Talk TYME, we believe in having Real Talk Conversations about Real Life Situations, even the uncomfortable ones.

Healing requires honesty.

And sometimes, that means talking about the very things that trigger us. 💚

Triggers are not always setbacks, they can also be indicators of where healing is still needed.

Ignoring pain does not make it disappear. Avoiding conversations does not remove the wound.

During Mental Health Awareness Month, let this be your reminder that seeking help is not weakness, it is wisdom.

🧠 A Wellness Coach can help you create accountability, goals, lifestyle balance/transitions, and forward movement.

💜 A Therapist can help you process trauma, emotions, behaviors, and mental health challenges. They can also diagnose.

🙏🏽 A Pastor or Pastoral Counselor can help provide spiritual guidance, faith, prayer, and emotional support.

And guess what?

You do not have to choose only one.

Each plays a role in healing the whole person. Real Talk! Mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and even financially.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and this week we’re having some REAL TALK about something many people silently struggle with: High-Functioning Burnout.

Just because someone is still showing up doesn’t mean they’re okay.
Many people are emotionally exhausted while still managing careers, businesses, families, leadership roles, finances, and responsibilities.

🧠 Mental Health Educational Piece:
Burnout is more than being tired.
Signs can include:
✔ Irritability
✔ Brain fog
✔ Difficulty concentrating
✔ Lack of motivation
✔ Emotional numbness
✔ Increased anxiety or overwhelm
✔ Feeling disconnected from joy

When we constantly pour into others without restoring ourselves, our mind, body, and finances eventually feel the impact.

Stop wearing “busy” as a badge of honor.

Happy Mother’s Day to:
✨ The moms

✨ The women who hoped to become moms
✨ The “could-have-been” moms
✨ The aunties, big sisters, bonus moms, and village women who stepped in with love
✨ The moms grieving their babies
✨ The children and adults grieving their mothers

For some, today was filled with joy, celebration, and hugs.

For others, today carried silence, longing, memories, or tears.

And for many, it’s both.

No matter what this day felt like for you, may you give yourself grace, love, and space to feel whatever comes. You are seen. You are loved. You are not alone. 🌷

One thing we don’t talk about enough is how connected our mental health and financial health truly are. When your mind is overwhelmed, your spending, discipline, focus, and decision-making can suffer too.

Mental health is wealth. Protecting your peace is just as important as protecting your paycheck. When your mind is clear, you can think better, plan better, and build the future you deserve.
