As a 16 year old, junior at Northshore High School in Slidell, Louisiana, Tyler Levy was so full of life. He was the youngest of 4 siblings, L.J., Ashley, and Todd, who was his twin. He was a good student and athlete. Tyler lettered in Cross Country for his school. He was also an avid gamer. He, his brother, and friends would spend hours playing video games. He loved to watch and critique movies. Star Wars was his ultimate favorite. Unfortunately, his life was cut too short. On the last day of school before Christmas break, he and a few friends were hanging out enjoying their time off. As the teens left for lunch, his life was shattered in a single car accident. He was a passenger in the back seat when the vehicle overturned into the bayou. Tyler was taken to Oschner Hospital by Life Flight. He died on December 21, 2016 at the age of 16. Tyler’s mother, Pam Levy, made a promise to her son in the hospital. Her promise was to do everything she could to educate teenagers on safe driving and making good choices. Tyler's parents Pam and Lyle Levy's mission is to make sure no other teen dies because of someone’s careless driving like thier son did. Hence, the birth of Tyler’s Drive for Life Foundation. The mission is two-fold; to provide teen driving safety awareness programs in Slidell public school system and the Tyler Levy Scholarship Fund. The scholarship will be awarded to a Northshore student who meets the set qualifications. The first award will be given to a student in the graduating class of 2018. This would have been Tyler’s Senior year of high school.
