🌸🌸October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month🌸🌸
We have partnered with Image of Health to bring Thermography, a preventative screening option, to Smithfield on October 11.
Thermography is not intended to replace, but to compliment mammography. There will be a free seminar at 11 that discusses thermography and offers opportunity to ask questions.
**Thermography looks at physiology, not anatomy.**
It detects subtle changes in blood flow, heat, and inflammation that may indicate abnormal activity — often years before a structural change (like a lump) would show up on a mammogram.
**Radiation-free & non-invasive.**
Thermography uses an infrared camera to capture heat patterns on the surface of the skin. No compression, no radiation, and no contact.
**Useful for younger women.**
Mammograms are typically recommended after age 40, but breast cancer awareness matters at all ages. Thermography offers an option for women in their 20s and 30s who want proactive monitoring.
**Can monitor changes over time.**
Thermography is especially helpful for creating a baseline image and then tracking changes in breast health year to year. Stability over time is reassuring, while changes can prompt further evaluation.
**Supports individualized care.**
By showing unique patterns in each person’s breast tissue, thermography encourages a more personalized approach to breast health.
**FDA-approved as an adjunct tool.**
Thermography is not a replacement for mammography, but it is recognized as a complementary tool that can add another layer of information.
**Stress, lymphatic congestion, and inflammation show up.**
Thermography can sometimes reveal patterns that aren’t cancer but still signal that the body could benefit from lifestyle support — like reducing stress, improving lymphatic flow, or addressing hormonal imbalance.
**A holistic awareness tool.**
Because it highlights patterns of imbalance before disease develops, thermography fits beautifully into a proactive, preventive, and holistic approach to wellness.
