I've been waiting to make this announcement until our full membership had been notified... So, here goes nothing! Defiance Barbell Club will be closing its doors in our current location on December 17. We are not closing for good though. We are diligently looking for a new space in the Taylor area to offer Supplements, Nutrition Support, and 1-on-1 Strength training/Powerlifting Coaching.

I have had an amazing time sharing my love for powerlifting with my clients and our members. So, stay tuned for more from Defiance in 2023!

I can't.
It's too hard.
It hurts too much.
I suck.
I'm never going to get healthy.
I'm tired of feeling like this.
I want to live to see my grandbabies.
I want to live to PLAY with my grandbabies.
I lost 5 pounds.
i tried something new today.
I LOVE LIFTING HEAVY THINGS!!!!

Everyone has a process. Sometimes you don't realize what that process is until you get to the good part. This was my process over 20 years. I told myself for years that I didn't have the power to change, but then one day that changed. If you are stuck in a place of self loathing and self doubt, I can help you! We don’t have ”amenities” at the gym. We don’t offer tanning or massage chairs. We definitely don’t have pizza parties. Heck, we don’t even have air conditioning. When we started this gym, we wanted to offer 1 thing and 1 thing alone: A gym with everything you need to be successful at most stages of powerlifting and strength training. We figured if we could make this happen, the lifters would come! And they have!!!! We need more of Bastrop County to see what we have out here. So, swing by and talk to me about your goals. I’ve backtracked big time with my health and fitness . Some days I have a hard time forgiving myself, but everyday I try. Some days the universe gives me a gift. This morning my Google photos shared a picture from 2014. I was 385 pounds. I felt hopeless then. I was sick, tired and lost. It
Took a couple years after this photo to get some traction, but even in 2014 I was fighting for my life every day. So, today I’m going to stop regretting my failures of the last year and I’m going to celebrate and cherish my progress!

I feel like this episode of Mark Bell’s Power Project podcast backs up my approach to health. You can make ALL the changes at one time and then fail OR you can make little changes that turn into big changes. Don’t set your self up for failure by taking on more than what is reasonable. Pick one thing like drinking more water or taking a walk 3 days a week. One little change begets another change and then you are on a path to big things.
