In Search of a Living Donor

Prayers for my mom! She went back in hospital on Friday due to being short of breath, we found out that her heart function has dropped to 25%. Not the news we wanted to hear.

Doctor said that she could have a block or it could be from the horrible infection she had the last few months. Our best case scenario is the block.

She is getting a heart cath tomorrow to check, if a block, they will fix it and heart function should improve.

Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. 🙏🏻

Update:

My mom has come a long way. She is on hemodialysis currently and hoping to get out back on peritoneal within the next 3 months. She is getting stronger every day and working with her physical therapy team!

Today, I went to UPENN for transplant donor evaluation. I am in PERFECT health! Now we wait to see what they say…..

Update on my mother Michelle who is in need of a living kidney donor:

Michelle went in for a nephrectomy on 1-3-24 to remove a non functioning kidney that kept giving her problems and getting infected. She has been inactive on the transplant list for some time now because of this ongoing issue.

3 days after surgery, she started having severe belly pain and spiked and fever. Within hours she was in the ER with a severe case of peritonitis ( she does peritoneal dialysis at home for 4 years now.)

She was then treated and it had seemed to be resolving. Still in the hospital and thinking things were turning a corner, all of the sudden her WBC started to spike and kept rising. She now had no choice but to remove the PD cath and have an emergency central line put in for immediate Hemodialysis.

Procedure was done. We found out she had a fungal infection in the catheter tube in her abdomen which could have came from the bad kidney during the removal.

She is now battling an awful fungal infection, still in the hospital going on almost a month and will likely never be able to do at home PD again.

She is still inactive on the transplant list and even further away now from being active again until all of this is cleared up. She thought she was taking the right steps to get back on the list by removing the kidney, that was not the case. She is very discouraged and depressed. It’s very hard for her to wrap her head around right now.

She is very weak and will need intense rehabilitation before she is able to go home. SHE WILL GET THERE AGAIN, to be active on the list.

Hemodialysis is very hard on one’s body, no matter who you are. Much harder than PD.
We need to take the time now to find her a kidney and get things situated for when she is ready to proceed and active on the list again.

Please help my mommy, share your spare and let’s get her back to her family and able to see her grandkids again, they miss her so much.

although my mom is currently listed as “inactive” on her transplant list with UPENN, we can be PROACTIVE and donate ahead of time.

My mommy, Michelle is in need of a kidney! Right now, she is the hospital because she is sick from her kidney disease. It seems as though, the kidney disease prevents her from being continuously active on the transplant list with UPENN. Her kidney disease is only allowing her shorts spurts of enough wellness to get active on the list for a few months at a time only! We need to act NOW! So when she is active again, we can get her a kidney ASAP.

I am asking for help to like, share of donate!
