Why Conscious Michiana?

Over the past 20 years of living in the Michiana community, my greatest joy has come from learning more about myself and what makes me who I am. Much of my “unfolding” can be credited to people and places in our community, which have enriched my life and allowed me to “become” without judgement. This unfolding, and becoming, are part of the awakening that has happened within me. This is what I refer to as conscious. Recognizing that my words, deeds, and actions affect not just me, but those around me, as well as the greater whole.

We each have a part within us which calls for connection, healing, and purpose. As this seed within us grows and expands, there comes a time when we may seek out ways to try on something new. This is what Conscious Michiana offers.

What does conscious mean anyway? Here is Wikipedia’s definition of consciousness:

“Consciousness is the state or quality of awareness or of being aware of an external object or something within oneself.[1][2] It has been defined variously in terms of sentience, awareness, the ability to experience or to feel, wakefulness, having a sense of selfhood or soul. You become aware that your actions have an effect on other people.”
