Jess Markins' daughter Caroline was just one week old when she was diagnosed with congenital CMV.

Now 2 years old, Caroline undergoes several different forms of therapy a week and communicates via an eye-gaze device. Markins tells PEOPLE about her daughter's journey and explains why it's important to her to share their life online.

We’re Montana Tally & Emmie Van Laan, two Charleston-based speech-language pathologists with a mission to make AAC (Augmentative & Alternative Communication) more accessible for families.

We offer AAC evaluations, device trials, customization, editing, and caregiver/clinician coaching sessions tailored to each individual’s needs. Services are available individually or through bundled packages, depending on the level of support you prefer.
