Anderson Learning Center, on the former campus of Nasson College in Springvale, is a busy place but many people are unaware of how much goes on there. The building formerly housed Nasson’s library, an art gallery and various athletic facilities and still has space devoted to the Nasson Alumni Association. But now there’s so much more.
ALC is home of the Business Enterprise Center/Sanford Springvale Development Corp. (SSDC). SSDC was started in 1996 by a group of local businesspeople who wanted to use the building for low-cost commercial rental space, specifically for non-profit organizations or rental spaces for businesses and companies that serve the public.
The building, which the city has owned since 1985, has approximately 38,000 square feet on three floors, with many diverse areas and spaces to accommodate different businesses and organizations.
Current tenants include:
Grahamtastic Connection, founded by Leslie Morissette in 1998, donates laptops, toys and other supplies for children with cancer. It also provides robots in the classrooms for children in the hospital so they can virtually take part in classroom activities. Their website is buff.ly/G84XYI6.
